Antonio's POV.

"I'm sorry for worrying you..."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"It...My condition is something called hypoxemia, it's a disease where my blood doesn't have enough oxygen to supply the body. I thought it had recovered because it never flared up when I was with you but-" Alexis clamped her hand over my mouth, eyes shut.

"It's fine..." She let out a shaky breath,"I found the cure to it..."

"You did?" I was filled with joy and curiosity,"How?"

"..." Alexis went silent, as if refusing to speak.

It was then I had this ominous feeling of dread that loomed over me like a dark cloud.

My mind was screaming at me.

You won't lime what you hear.

Not one bit.

But I had to know.

I needed to.

I grabbed Alexis by her shoulders and her face me.

She averted my gaze.

"Alexis. What. Did. You. Do." My voice was quiet but firm.

"I...I made a cure is all."

"Look me in the eyes and tell me." Come on, I've lived with Alexis for three years and have known her for even longer.

If I couldn't spot the signs that she was lying, I'd be a really dumb guy.

"Alexis?" For some reason she doesn't want to face me.

Her face?

I reached for her jaw and try to make her face me but Alexis tries to resist by putting an arm up.

I hold her arm in place and force her head to face me.

I examined every bit of her face and I see it.

"Alexis?"

"..."

"Jesus fucking christ Alexis what happened to your eye?"

"..."

"Why is it white?" My brows furrowed even further.

I had the puzzle pieces-I just couldn't figure out how they put together.

"What did you do?" I asked quietly.

"I-It's nothing." Alexis shivered before calming down.

It's not nothing.

Alexis tended to wear her heart on her sleeve around me and the worrying moments were when that part of her was closed off-even to me.

Whatever it was, it couldn't be good.

But I had to know.

"I won't blame you for anything." I answered softly.

"I..." She seems conflicted,"It's just...You're sick and you've just woken up you're tire-"

"I'm fine Alexis. You've cured me haven't you? You said it yourself." I interrupted her ranting.

Now I wasn't a genius in any way shape or form.

BUT.

I do have credentials and I did go to a university.

I had a degree in psychology and Alexis seemed like a textbook case right now.
