A Breath

Antonio's POV.

I massaged my neck as I got out of the debris,"Now, round 2."

"Living or dead, prepare for death. You're not leaving till your final breath."

I raised the sword in my hand, my power amplified by it,"I'd like to see you try."

Another barrage of merciless spears rained down from above, blotting the azure expanse above us.

I raised my sword to defend,"HAA-"

Eeeeee-!

The metal sword screeched against the spear, my arms growing numb as I was shot back like a bullet,"Argh!"

I blocked the next few with my explosions as I got my bearings.

I could feel a coppery metallic taste in my mouth.

"Damn." I was about to run out of gas.

Ability overuse...

I'll need a mad dash to settle it.

One rush with all your remaining power.

I stood up, seemingly unhurt.

The armour did wonders but it still was dented by the impact.

"Hooh." I let out one light breath as I channelled he remnants of my energy to this suicide run.

Just my luck to meet you first day on the job eh?

"Have you given up?"

"..."

"Admit defeat? Perhaps you could be a worthy slav-"

BOOOOM-

I summoned all my energy to the battlefield as blood fill my mouth with its coppery taste, my body about to shut down from overexertion.

But I stood strong.

I stared at it.

It didn't move.

"Is it...dead?"

"I think so..." Sapphire breathed,"You...you managed to kill an obvliate ki-"

Ksssssh.

"You think I die so easily? It's just not a feasibility. I've made millions drop like flies, so how could one human make me die?"

It stood up,"You, are a strong enemy that has me excited. Tell my your name, and I will let you die honourably."

"Antonio. Antonio Giovanni."

Game over.

"It has been a great fight, Antonio, just a little too weak."

"A pleasure." I chuckled bitterly.

To be looked down by even an obvliate...You've sunken low Antonio.

I felt it coming.

That impending doom.

I played roulette with fate and I lost the draw.

A man who kills must be prepared to be killed himself.

I closed my eyes and accepted fate.

There're so many things I wanted to do.

I...I haven't even officially married the girl I love.

All for what?
