Maybe Michaels new roommate wouldn't be so bad after all.

———

The first few days after Jeremys arrival went by quick. He and Michael had talked and became friends after realizing how much they had in common, for example, they both loved video games, preferably old school and both loved Seven-Eleven slushees.

The two had also learned so many other things about each other.

Michael learned that Jeremy has one friend, who was also his stepbrother, named Evan, while Jeremy learned of Michaels two friends. Michael learned that Jeremy hated Mountain Dew, unless it was red, and Jeremy learned that Michael had an obsession with old school soft drinks. Michael learned that Jeremy had never done drugs while Jeremy learned that Michael loved to get high. And most importantly, Jeremy learned that Michael was gay while Michael learned that Jeremy was bisexual.

They both learned that they had a chance.

"M-Michael..." Jeremy stuttered our to his new found friend and crush. "You awake?"

Michael grunted. It was almost midnight and neither of the boys could sleep.

"Yeah. What's up?" "The sky, you dummy." Jeremy giggled in response. Both boys smiled at Jeremy's childish behavior.

As the night progressed, neither of boys were able to sleep and they stayed up all night talking. At one point Jeremy had said that he was cold, so Michael invited him to sleep in his bed with him and let Jeremy borrow his famous red hoodie. The two still didn't sleep after that, however.

Instead, Michael asked a question that could make or break their entire friendship.

"Do you wanna maybe go out with me?" Jeremy, who had been snuggled up to Michael as Michael held him, froze. "It's okay if you don't want to! I just uh- I maybe, sorta, kinda like you...?"

Jeremy slowly came to his senses and shook his head yes. "I'd love to, Micha."

That night was what had gotten them out of the mental institution, as they made each other happy once again. They built each other back up, fixing all the broken pieces.

And now, as the two stand together in front of the aisle, remembering that day, they couldn't be any more grateful of their past troubles for bringing them together.
