Vera's P.O.V: "Perfumer"
I don't feel like I wanted to be alive anymore. I feel like... everything is off the hook because of me. However, why am I still alive? Crying? In Pain? Why?!
"I want to go home," I whispered to myself as I met my reflection in the girl's bathroom mirrors. "I... want to be with my family...at home...where there's happiness waiting for me....not some...dirty piece of lies......."
And that's when I had a flashback before the 'Traitor of One' was executed. First glance, I am an angel. Second glance, I am her. Third glance, I am 'what I am.'
What the heck does that even mean? Is this some joke? Well, if I look at it this way, it doesn't sound much like a farewell note, but a warning. Could that be a clue for the upcoming traitor or... was she talking about herself? Certainly, I must beware of anything that is a 'she'... Although, it could be anyone!
W-what if AI Fiona meant it the other way? Like, any guy would be a 'she'? ....Nah, that's too much to bear with!
*Rumbling sound*
Ugh, now I'm hungry. I better go out and join the rest of the others in the dining room. Oh yeah, better wipe my tears first before going out looking like a hot mess!
Quickly making sure I was well prepared, I headed out of the restroom, almost immediately bumping into someone along the way. "Hey, watch it!" I said furiously. "Haven't you heard of the word called 'walking?'"
"Ah sorry 'bout that!" Emma gave me an apologetic smile, "I've been looking everywhere for you!" Then she went on and on about telling me how she realized I wasn't in my room and came down this path to find me. "Yeah, I was almost worried about you, but since you're here, take some food I brought along for you."
"Thank you, but I'm not hungry," I lied knowingly. "Besides, I think I lost my appetite and--"
*Rumbling sound*
Giving me a funny smile, Emma chuckled, "We're about to start another match pretty soon and I'm sure you'll be hungry if you don't get enough energy," she handed me the plate of food and I don't know why, but I accepted it without arguing.
"W-why are you helping me?"
She shrugged, "As much as I want to get the heck out of here, I realized something important with what you said during the trials..." The gardener faltered, "And I understand what it felt like to lose someone very close to you on the second day, so... I pitied you."
"You pitied me?" I repeated.
"I-It's nothing," Emma said breathlessly before looking at the other direction from which she came from. "Anyway, I've got to go make sure the others are done and ready, so... I'll see you later in the main room." She waved 'goodbye' to me and was about to leave until I called her name--
"Emma?"
"Hm?" The young girl turned to face me directly, "Something you need, Vera?"
"I.... want to say thank you," I smiled awkwardly.
"No problem!" The gardener beamed with a cheerful smile, "Anything for a friend!"
As I watched her walk away after saying our 'goodbyes', I was speechless for a moment... Did Emma actually call me her friend? For the first time... someone actually called me a friend! And I know... it's not an AI this time~!
Norton's P.O.V: "Prospector"
"Oh that's pure torture alright," I replied with a pat on Naib's back after we finished eating. "So what if you did see one of the hunters staring at you during the trial? It could've been a coincidence."
Naib frowned, "Well, in my perspective," he began slowly, "That hunter was searching for me alright, and once we locked eyes... I swear I saw something dangerous in him."
"What do you mean?" Eli asked, tuning into our conversations, along with Aesop. "You sure it wasn't the other way around? I mean, you did look back at him."
"T-that was because he was staring at me first," the mercenary shuddered that thought, "And my senses are never wrong about that."
I smiled, "Cheer up, you're overthinking it."
"I'm not!"
"Oh yeah, wasn't that the reason why you were pulling your hood down to avoid him?" Eli asked again. But when Naib gave him a strange look, he tried his best to explain, "Not that it matters, but..."
Sighing in frustration, the mercenary shook his head, "If you guys think this is something I shouldn't be worried about, you're deadly wrong!" Then he went on panicking instantly without warning, "I swear, I saw his creepy eyes behind his mask glaring at me as if he wanted to murder me in plain sight!"
He's probably overthinking it, I chuckled to myself. "And~?" I pressured him, wanting more info.
It took about a few seconds before Naib realized what I wanted to hear, "Cut that out, Norton," he said before adding, "It's not funny at all!"
"Dude, chill, I was only joking," I replied, holding my hands out as if I didn't want to get in front of his business. "But ask Aesop here, he probably knows what it's like to have Joseph--"
"Don't even mention his name," Aesop muttered under his breath, and I guess I better stop teasing them from now on.
"Suit yourself," I gave a small grin, "I guess I'll be heading to the main room first before you guys, so the last one to the main room is the rotten egg!"
"NO thank you, we're going to head over to the--" Eli began, but didn't have the chance to tell me, since I was already racing down the hallway.
Huh, I guess they didn't want to beat me in a chase, I thought.... Guess that means I'm not the rotten egg here--!
That's when a brilliant red flash appeared before my eyes as it passed right before me. What the....? And there in front of me from less than a mile away was Naib, turning around to see my shock expression all written on my face.
And I swear I could've heard him mouthed the word, "Look who's now the Rotten Egg, it's Norton!"
No fair....... :(
I completely almost forgot he's way faster than me..... Oh wait, why am I the one doing the chase?
Hehe....
"Hey, Naib!" I hollered, "Catch this!"
Taking out both of my magnets, I hurled them right over him. Running into those two opposite-magnets, red and blue, Naib looked confused as I managed to get close to him.
"Want to see a magic trick?" I asked him, but before he could answer back, the magnets on Naib forced him to collide into me... Taking no chance of waiting for his reactions, I started running ahead of him as I threw another red magnet down behind me.
Whenever Naib had the chance to boost his speed closer to me, the magnets would push him back while it also gave me the boost to be ahead of him even more.
"You're cheating!"
"Am not~!"
Just as when we're so close to reaching the main room, I could feel the adrenaline between both of us as we pushed open the door, "I-I made it first!" I said, while taking some time to recover my breath.
"No, I did," Naib huffed, as he too, was out of breath.
We both spent some time glaring at each other until we realized something wasn't right. . .
"Took you two long enough," Helena broke the silence as she checked the time, "Where have you two been?"
I couldn't describe the right feelings of being humiliated..... Everybody was already in the main room without breaking a sweat!
"Wait," I paused... "How come you guys were ahead of us so fast?"
"Oh, I was trying to tell you about that," I heard a voice reply somewhere near me, "We took the secret passage, since we thought it was a cool place to check it out," Eli told me. "Ah.. I hope you don't mind that you guys came here last so..."
"Shoot," I cursed under my breath. "I guess we're the Rotten Egg."\
Me: :(
Naib: :(
