The moon was full and Sakura found herself enjoying the soft, iridescent glow as she trudged her way through the dense foliage of the forest, in search of the one thing that could help cure her mother's terminal illness... a fae.

A sasusaku AU.

The full moon lit her path in an almost iridescent glow and the young pink-haired woman at the tender age of only 18, surrendered herself to the peace (and tranquility) that the woodlands brought upon her disheartened soul.

Leaves, twigs, and all sorts of debris crunched underneath her bare feet while her dress swayed around her ankles as she moved further and further into the densest parts of the forest... that sat at the very back of her parent's property.

'It should be close by... somewhere. AHH! There it is!'

When the pinkette stumbled upon her intended destination she quickly came to a stop... finding herself dumbfounded and in awe of the beautiful sight before her. All was silent apart from the gentle, soothing sounds of the waterfall and a few nearby birds, and she felt the built-up tension in her shoulders slowly melt away as she inched her way just a little bit closer.

But then—

"GO AWAY!"

She startled.

Sakura paused as the haunting voice echoed off the very trees around her; the deep timber almost mesmerizing as her gaze shifted from the waterfall before her... to beyond the capabilities of her eyes to see. She tried squinting her green eyes in order to see a bit further, but spotted nothing in the darkness. She began to grow uneasy, but stood her ground and continued; taking a few more tentative steps.

"I SAID GO AWAY, HUMAN GIRL! LEAVE HERE! NOW!"

The tone grew louder this time around... seemingly more determined in its conviction and she spun in a full circle on her heels... (twice) still spying nothing of the presence that she knew was there... of the man she knew was watching her... and the fact that he could see her so easily and she couldn't see him, unnerved her.

But also—

'If he is who I believe, then I need his help. I cannot leave yet.'

"You are one of them, aren't you...," she called loudly into absolute nothingness, unsure of the mysterious creature's true position in the foliage surrounding her. Sakura heard slight movement to her left before a twig snapped and she whipped around quickly, catching a minute glimpse of him as he moved around her.

'Damn it. He's fast. Just as legend predicts.'

Sakura swallowed as she closed her eyes and sank to her knees before bowing slowly... with her head resting on her clasped hands... submitting herself to this being's mercy in a way that she never had to any other. But she forced her pride away for the time being and remained in her lowered position on the forest floor to avoid further conflict; for this was all for her mother's sake... and the eldest Haruno heir would do anything to save her.

'For Mother...'

"Please, don't send me away. I need your help." She could hear him steadily approaching her and refrained from even so much as lifting her head to meet his advancing figure.

When the sound of his footfalls ceased— he scoffed. "You aren't the first to beg me for something. Why should I help you, human? What do you have to offer me in exchange?" She felt her heartbeat accelerate tenfold at what she was about to do next.

Sakura knew that the fae folk have no need for money OR riches. They are simple beings who have simple taste... at least that's what legend has suggested... making it difficult at first to figure out compensation for her request... and so be it really, seeing as her family was practically broke. She could only think of one thing to trade him; and even though it sickened her to say it allowed, the woman swallowed her pride once again and clinched her fist into the soft dirt and her eyes remained firmly shut.

She took a deep breath—

"I give you myself, sir. My services... in exchange for your help healing my ailing Mother. I will do as you wish... I only ask that you heal her. Please, I beg of you. That is my one and only request, that is my only desire."

Sakura couldn't see his face...

... too many seconds passed.

Will he accept?

Or—

"Lift your head, human. Let me see you."

Sakura slowly did as he asked and she had to stifle a soft gasp at the sight before her. His skin... so pale... glowed in the moonlight; his alabaster flesh nearly bare apart from a small wrap around his hips. His hair was inky black as well as his matching eyes; they practically blended into the sky behind his silhouette and he held her captive with them, in his intense, but unreadable expression. Oh, what a damn sight she must be for him to behold. She took notice of his chiseled jaw as it seemed to clench, but only briefly before he nodded once.

"Fine. I accept."

She let out a huge sigh and bowed once again... immense relief washing over her. 'At least Mother will be safe.' She didn't rise again until he made a clicking sound in the back of his throat. She met his gaze once more on a whim and felt a cold shiver run down her spine as the color somehow seemed to change in an instant from one of onyx to one of ruby. Sakura felt her cheeks do the same and instinctively lowered her gaze. "T-thank you... thank y-you so much...," she managed to stutter.

His lips pulled into the briefest of scowls. "No need to fear me, human. I will not harm thee. I accepted and I am a fae of my word. I am also not a violent individual. You needn't worry... in my presence that is."

"O-oh, I'm sorry if I offended you. I—"

"No need for apologies. Let us walk and discuss the terms of my services." Without hesitation, she followed him deep into the woods, unaware of the dark and enraged pair of eyes trailing after them.
