"Buck, Artemis, kill the light tower. Eddie once the ladder is in position you and chimney run point." A crowd was running outside a soccer stadium screaming and pushing each other, when we looked up, we saw a blimp stuck on top of the stadium. Buck cuts open the circuit breaker open and with a wire cutter I cut the power."Power is out, cap, it's safe to approach." I say through the radio. Eddie and chim then get into position to get on the ladder and stop the fire on the blimp.
"Fires out, cap, swing us of the cab." Eddie forces the door open to the blimp and they get inside to take care of the pilot's. "Careful, every pound of weight distribution kinda matters in this thing." The pilot tells Eddie, "cap, we need Artemis up here, the blimp is gonna be able to hold her but not us. We're not gonna have enough time to get both of them out." I hear through the radio and I go running to the ladder, of course they chose me to go up. I go up the ladder and I step a foot on inside the cab. "We're gonna go one in, one out."
Chim was waiting on the ladder to taking the woman out once she got up out of her seat. "There you go, slow and steady." She grabs my hand I passed her to chim to get her down the ladder. I hear a loud creaking and the blimp goes side ways but then stopped. The other pilot was knocked out, "Artemis, buck is on his way up to help you evacuate the co-pilot." I took off the headset of the co-pilot and see bleeding on the side of his head. "Artemis, hey!" He hands me the neck brace and I put it on the co-pilot. "Cap, pilots coming too." I say.
"All right buck, you move fast, you move safe, let's go." I check the man's pulse and he's still alive. "Sir, can you feel the pressure I'm applying?" I tap his chest and he clearly replies, "yeah, yeah." I nod my head, I cut off of his seat belt and get him up on the count of three, his whole weight was on top of me which was definitely difficult. "Artemis, this thing is really rocking, you gotta be ready." I was trying to get the man out as fast as I can but it was really tight in there, even buck almost fell over. "Cap, lower me three feet!" He yells. I hand over the man to buck and I fell the blimp shaking. "Artemis! This thing is gonna go!" Bobby yells. I take a deep breath and jump onto the ladder, fuck, that was scary as hell. _________________________________
Lucy was off duty because her dumbass broke her foot while on a family weekend trip, oh the money I pay to see that in person. Bobby was on face time with her and she wasn't coming back for six weeks. While the rest of us were cleaning up from eating buck stops Bobby from leaving, the shift just ended. "Umm what did Lucy mean about ruining your trip?"
"I was gonna have her fill in for me when I was gone." Buck's smile disappeared from his face, "uh, you were gonna make Lucy interim captain? She- she hasn't even been here that long." The rest of us were watching this unfold, Buck was hurt and it was clear. "Not at the 118 but she has been a firefighter for almost 10 years, shes more than qualified." Bobby argued back. "Well, yeah but o-other people here are also qualified." Chim tries to de escalate the situation. "Hey, I appreciate the vote of confidence kid but no need to pressure cap into asking me."
