Chapter 40:

YOUR P.O.V.

As I walk down the narrow school halls I look around. Aiden told me he'd meet me somewhere on this floor so we could walk to class together.

I smile at the thought of him.

But maybe i shouldn't. Mattia and I just broke up. It's wrong to feel these feelings for someone I never talked to before this week.

But I know Mattia has better things going for him. Doesn't he always?

I bump into someone.

I pull my bag closer to me as I look up startled

"My bad" he says smiling weakly at me. I look away and bite my lip as I walk past him. But he tugs on my arm.

"Dawn" his raspy voice whispers. Shivers travel down my spine. I turn to him and look at our hand interconnected. When I look back up at his face, he's just staring at mine

"Mattia" I say quietly. "Stop, we aren't doing this anymore"

"Are you over me?" He asks bluntly avoiding my statement

"Over you?" I say confused.

I don't know

"Why are you asking? What difference should it make?" I clear my throat

"Are you?" He says raising his brows as he runs his other hand through his hair

Am i?

No

"Look-"

"Dawn" a familiar voice says.

I turn around.

"Aiden" I say trying to loosen the grip between Mattia's hands and mine. But he only tightens it

Aiden looks at me confused and licks his lips as he looks towards Mattia. And then down at our hands that are intertwined.

"Who's Aiden?" Mattia asks.

"You don't gotta know" Aiden says taking my opposite hand.

"Who's you?" Aiden asks

"Her boyfriend"

"No you're not" Aiden tugs on my hand pulling me away from Mattia

"Hm. How do you know that?" Mattia asks as his eyes dart to me. He laughs to himself as he licks his teeth.

"I just do. Let go of her"

Mattia tightens his grip on me.

"Mattia?" A female voice calls out.

Brown haired girl. Thin. White. Brown eyes

Jenna

She places her hand on his shoulder and kisses him on the cheek.

My heart drops and I shake my head as I let go of Mattia

"Jenna, stop. Not now" he says avoiding eye contact from me as he turns to her

She looks at me and smirks. "Does she know that you're mine? I thought we made that clear yesterday when we were making out"

No.

I turn my face from him.

Already? He's with someone already?

"I don't want him" I say standing besides Aiden

Mattia sighs

"You guys are a thing?" I ask folding my arms onto my royal blue pullover hoodie.

"Mhmm" Jenna mutters as she pulls Mattia's arms over her shoulder.

"Are you two?" She points to Aiden and I

"Yes"

I turn to Aiden and he smirks as he takes my hand

Mattia shakes his head , scoffs, and walks off. I watch as he makes his way down the hall, his body disappearing into the staircase.

"Well then" Jenna begins. "I guess we're all happy now" and she walks off following Mattia's trail.

"Well" Aiden says hugging me. "I know we aren't really dating but maybe could pretend that we are. To make him jealous" he says as I feel him smirk

I place my hands on the fabric of his shirt.

"Bet"
