"Flight 229 to Stamford ,Connecticut make your way at the gate"

My mom looks at me and takes my hand. "Let's go, D"

I take my carryon in my hand and walk over to the back of the line. It's moving pretty fast. I look down at my phone.

1 text from Mattia

Mattia 💛: did you get on the plane yet?

"Dawn, lets go" my mom says. I look up and hand the airline lady my ticket and then walk down a huge aisle until I make it at the door of the plane.

As I walk in, a nervous feeling takes over. I haven't been on a plane in years.

I take a seat by the window and my mom sits next to me. I look down at my phone and text him back.

Me: I just got on the plane

I shut my phone off and look at my mom who's already taken advantage of the provided pillows and blankets, as she's already fallen asleep.

That was fast.

My phone notification goes off.

Mattia 💛: Dawn please be safe

I frown

Me: I will :( I'm gonna miss you so much

Mattia💛: I'm gonna miss you more, trust me.

Me: I'm gonna see you soon, don't worry

Mattia 💛: Ik but it still feels like it'll be forever until then

Me: we'll make it work. I promise

My eyes tear up

I wipe them

Mattia💛: I love you

"The plane will begin takeoff. Please shut off all devices that may impact the safety of this flight" a voice sounds on the speaker

Me: The plane's taking off  so I have to shut my phone off now. I'll call you once we land

Mattia: Have a safe flight D

I shut my phone off and lay my head back as I look out the window

I would've never thought I would be saying bye to this place forever

The plane lands and everyone claps.

Is this what always happens on planes?

It was an okay ride I guess. But I was paranoid that we would crash half of the time

My fear of planes> anything

After clapping I take off my seatbelt and exit the plane in a line, with my mom in front of me.

Me: we landed

I look up at my mom who looks sleepy. "Ma what's the time difference between Connecticut and New Jersey?"

"There is no time difference"

"Oh"

My phone notification goes off.

Mattia💛: that's good. FaceTime me when you get home, okay?
