an outside life

SNOW WAS SETTLED ON THE outdoor grass and roads were frozen over by ice. Kids, who were still in school, were celebrating the day as it was cancelled and Petunia spent her time indoors, cleaning the house.

Taking it one room a day, the blonde had been kneeling on the floor, scrubbing and sweeping away any sign of dirt or dust that she saw.

Mr. and Mrs. Evans continued to leave the household to buy presents and decorations for the upcoming holiday, as it was now only a week away. And Petunia didn't mind being left home alone. Though, she would prefer to be out shopping in the crisp air rather than at their small home, making everything rather spotless.

And, adding onto that, she would have to continuously go over her finished work as her parents would always walk into the household with snowy feet.

Today, Petunia had decided to clean her room, which her father continuously gave her comments about after tripping that one night. And although she liked the messy touch, she knew that every day she'd put it off, another comparison would be made about her sister — who would never let her room look like that.

Because Lily Evans was perfect.

Swaying her hips to the music that played, the youngest Evans was stacking her books back into her shelves — organizing them simply by theme. Her clothes, that were a mixture between summer and winter, were messily set into two groups, as a third pile was placed of the unwanted clothing.

Her blinds were open, revealing the outdoor weather to her, and being the only source of light that emitted into her room. A cold chill could also be briefly felt as her window, that she use to leave out of, was not fully shut. But Petunia, who loved the chilled air, kept the window just like that — giving her an ounce of comfort as she cleaned.

Her eyes would continuously glance around her room, trying to make a mental list of everything she needed to do. Though, they would continue to skip over a small dresser in the corner, as it held too many memories that upset the girl.

And so she ignored it, keeping her attention back towards the books that she would place on her shelves. Horror, Adventure, and Astronomy were the top three contenders for her interests. As the girl loved to read things that would get her heart to race or have her feel like she can have an adventurous life outside of her thin, bedroom walls. Petunia also had an interest in the moon, fully believing that it was the most beautiful thing her eyes laid upon. And despite the horror stories she'd read about vampires and werewolves, she couldn't help but think the moon held more beauty than danger.

Plus, Petunia knew those little stories couldn't be real. Werewolves? Vampires? She still hardly believed people with wands existed in such a boring world.

And as Petunia stared down at the book in front of her, showing the girl each phase and when it would occur — Petunia couldn't help but smile, realizing the full moon was just over a week away.
