PETUNIA'S FACE WAS PLANTED against the cold window, having huffs of air cloud the visibility. It was now morning, the hues of sunlight dimming against the Hogwarts view — and currently, a group three boys, tired and slightly hurt, were crowding into the room.

Their original plan was to head straight to bed, as their classes wouldn't start until the next few hours. However, as they noticed the shivering blonde quietly sleeping, it had changed rather quickly.

Peter was the first to react, grabbing one of the common room blankets to cover her up with — and James slapped a hand over Sirius's mouth, seeing as he was getting ready to yell, waking the girl up.

Though, his plan was successful, it was also not. Because the sound of the slap woke her up.

Petunia shot up, almost fearful, immediately seeing the sight of Peter Pettigrew hovering above her.

And he yelped himself, seeing her awaken.

"The fuck!" she hissed out, covering herself more with the blanket, "Why are you—" she now saw the other two, "Why are you all,"She corrected, "In the girl's dorm—" this time she fully stopped, getting a good look of her surroundings.

"oh."

Sirius couldn't help but laugh.

"shut up."

Petunia continued to glare at the laughing boy, even flipping him off as she felt a wave of tired frustration hit her.

James held a proud grin on his face.

She sent him a subtle wink.

However, as she now got a full look at the boy, her eyes squinted, seeing a brightly new scratch upon his cheek. Until then, she finally realized Remus was missing.

She peered down to her ring.

hurt.

She stood abruptly.

"Where were you guys?" Petunia suddenly questioned, not minding the surprised stares as she immediately went to James, tilting his head to see the scratch.

She then scanned the rest, seeing a few bruises on each and every one of them.

Petunia was not pleased.

Especially as their words, much like last time, mumbled together — having different lies and excuses escape.

Petunia stared at James.

James tried to avoid her eyes.

He was unsuccessful.

"James."

He suddenly forgot how to speak.

She rolled her eyes.

"Can I at least know where Remus is?"

No answer.

...

Breakfast came quicker than expected and as Petunia finally agreed to go to the Great Hall, she was rather nervous, not wanting to catch attention.

Unlike the others, her clothes were casual, not a single ounce of red lacing the fabric. The rest were in their school clothes, their long cloaks hanging over their arms.

The halls were busy for the early morning. Some were rushing to get food, others were sitting on the floor, finishing the homework they procrastinated on.

And for the most part, it was quiet.

Though, as their small group made their final turn, they all stopped — staring at three boys ahead of them.

She only recognized one.

Severus Snape.

He was quiet, alongside another boy, who had slightly shorter hair. And the one in the middle, who was speaking, had bright blonde hair — not yet noticing the group.

The tension was immediately high.

Surprisingly, Sirius was the quietest of the bunch, making his way towards the back of the group. Lily was in the front, trying to keep her head held high at the sight of Severus.

And Petunia was confused to see both Peter and James block her from their view

One spoke to them.

"Sirius?"

His head shot up in surprise.

She glanced back at him.

"Regulus."

The look he gave him, she finally understood.

And from what she could see over Peter's shoulder, Petunia could now see the resemblance. Slightly wavy hair, the sharp jawline, gray eyes — he was almost a spitting image of his brother.

The only difference was the green robes.

An awkward silence soon took over the bunch, and Petunia felt as James gently took her wrist, continuing to block her as he took her into the Great Hall — Peter, and the girls, following shortly after.

Sirius stayed back.

Almost immediately, Petunia had questions roaming around her head, almost being forced out of her lips. She held back, not wanting to be nosey. So, instead, she kept her focus on James's hand, who still kept his fingers wrapped around her wrist — making her hide a smile, feeling as his thumb softly dragged back and forth over her arm.

He didn't even realize.

She definitely did.

And she was distracted momentarily, not even realizing she'd sat down — or that his hand left her wrist.

It was only once the aroma of foods hit her nose, causing her eyes to leave her bare wrist, right on top of the loads of food scattered around the table.

She almost felt her jaw drop.

And as Dorcas helped Petunia fill her plate, pointing out the goods — the blonde couldn't help but grin, feeling as she could get used to this kind of lifestyle.
