waking up

HER STOMACH FELT TIGHT,
like something heavy was laying on top of her — holding her so tightly that she couldn't escape.

Her body felt warm, like there was a
fire growing inside of her, burning her flesh
piece by piece.

Her head felt pain. Harsh, piercing pain.
Like small little needles had pushed
their way into her skin, refusing to release the growing pressure.

Petunia tried to breath, to suck in
a breath that she desperately needed.
She wanted to cough, to release any of the air that was caught in her throat.
She wanted to scream. To let out
every ounce of pain and
suffering she felt for the past few hours
she had been forced into.

She had felt their pain.

She had seen their pain.

She had watched everything.

All because of her.

Her.

Petunia didn't realize she had
opened her eyes. She hadn't realized
that there was a group of people around her — looking right at her.

She blocked out their voices.
She blocked out their worried advances.
It was like she had not noticed them.
That she was focused on something entirely different. Which she was. But they didn't understand that.

they didn't understand

Not until she lifted her hand.
Not until she shakily pointed to one person
in the room. Not until she forced out a word.
A word that she tried so hard to say, but struggled greatly.

"Traitor."
