Lily Evans was a simple girl, she didn't ask for much, knowing her place in the wizarding world. She didn't care about her looks or where she stood as a girl at school. One thing she did care, was sticking it to people of how being a muggle born doesn't mean she knows less than the Purebloods, working her whole life to become in the top five of students that did so well this year.

She felt proud over the little things, whether it was Marlene getting a question right, or Alice facing her fear of spiders, she loved the life she was living. There had been a few bumps on the way, one of them being her best friend turning on her last year, and the other one was a boy who fell in love with her and always hinted at the fact they would make a cute couple.

It was nice at first, but then she didn't love the attention it was becoming, by second year the whole school knew about James Potter wanting to be with Lily. It was a crush, she assumed he would get over it sooner or later.

And he did, when she saw his hands lay on Nora black in fifth year, quite literally shocking all of the kids in their year, including Lily. She didn't know why, but the attention she got from James was nice sometimes, complimenting her, saying stupid things when he was nervous, it made her feel seen.

Until it suddenly died, putting her studies first and boys later, biting her in the arse. James was a handsome lad, she didn't deny it, sometimes blushing red. She just wish she could've told him why she doesn't want to date yet, needing a good education as it could benefit her being a muggle studies professor, wanting to come back and teach.

She just didn't have the guts to tell him.

It was too late, she watched the way James was suddenly happy again, but she wasn't the reason, the lad always giddy in the morning, wishing the girls a wonderful day, like usual. His eyes no longer lingered on her at the table, or in potions. He simply moved on from her, so why hasn't Lily?

"Should've told him." Mary told her, feeling slightly bad for her. She tried to not care anymore, pushing aside the feelings she thought she had for James, focusing her way back to her studies, N.E.W.Ts in less than a month.

Although Nora and James were now broken up, she didn't want to be a rebound to him, simply settling on the fact James will never see her as his precious Lily-flower. Even that nickname made her smile sometimes.

Sitting with Peter and Remus in the library was comforting, being closer to the boys sometimes, needing to help Peter a little in potions was her favourite pastime, getting to know him a little more.

"I can't do this anymore, take me now." Peter groaned, laying his head on the table. Lily smiled at the poor boy, Remus grabbing his quill to keep writing for him, letting him take a break.

"We have been doing this for an hour." Lily stated, sighing out loud. She was so ahead of her studies she almost felt bored watching others do theirs. "Pete, only a five minute break this time. Go take a walk." Remus told him, Peter happily getting up.

Lily watched the way he walked away, pointing towards his toes before he tried to crack his back. She tried to not show her true emotions sometimes, especially around James' friends, fixing the red ribbon in her hair.

"You okay Lily?" Remus softly asked, looking up from his parchment. Lily clumsily looked back at him, shining a smile and nodding her head. "Course I am, why do you ask—"

"Because I've known you long enough to know something is going on." Remus cut her off, Lily cursing him for being too involved in her life. "I'm just tired is all," she lied, "had to watch a ten minute performance of Marlene and Alice dancing after they got drunk at the Hufflepuff party." That was true, it was almost three in the morning when they came back, who are also still in bed, hungover.
