"Hello?" Pt. 2

"They're over."

"They are?"

"Well... I'm not sure. They're no longer engaged."

"How do you know that?"

"Samuel told me." 

"He just came out and told you that?"

"Well, no. I asked and he answered."

"And he said that they're not engaged anymore?"

"He said that they'd agreed that it was best that they take a time out and date, seeing as they kinda skipped that part of their relationship. They went from zero to sixty in point three of a second."

"A lot like us then."

"We had a foundation of friendship first."

"So did they."

"They're not us."

"But they're not all that different from us."

"They are."

"Not."

"Are."

"Not."

"Are."

"Are."

"Not."

"Yes!"

"Wait, what happened?"

"You agreed with me. They're not that different from us."

"What is it with women and mind games?"

"This isn't about mind games. It's about me being right."

"And you're always right, of course."

"I am. Thanks for noticing."

"You'd have told me if I wasn't noticing."

"You're right. Now, back on the topic of your brother and Jasmine- they're dating but they're not engaged?"

"Exactly."

"Are they still living together?"

"I think she's moving out. Samuel's retreated to Connie's for a few days so that Jasmine can figure out what she's doing."

"Damn it."

"What?"

"I wish she and I were on talking terms."

"Why?"

"So I could get all the gossip."

"You can always call Jasmine and ask her."

"Yeah, that'll be awkward."

"Didn't you wave the white flag?"

"I did but a white flag is not an eraser."

"Fair enough."

"Will Evie know?"

"About Jasmine's plans?"

"Yeah."

"Why would she know?"

"Samuel might have told her."

"I doubt it."

"I think he tells her more than he tells you."

"No, he doesn't."

"I think he does."

"Why would you think that?"

"Because they can sit and gossip and braid each other's hair. Your hair is too short to braid, so..."

"That's your reasoning?"

"Yep."

"Terrible reasoning."

"Says you."

"Says anyone with half a brain cell."

"If they only have half a brain cell then it's little wonder that they'd think something so stupid as to agree with you."

"Gee, thanks."

"You're welcome."

"Look, if you're so interested to know what's going on with them, then give Samuel a call and ask him. Your hair is long enough to braid, so maybe he'll tell you more than me."

"Actually, that's not a bad idea. Daniel?"

"Yes?"

"I have to go. I need to call your brother."

"Of course, you do."

"I'll give you all the details later."

"Lovely. Pillow talk. About my brother's dysfunctional relationship."

"You bet your arse."

"..."

"Anyway, I'll catch you later. And remember that it's your turn to cook tonight. Please don't try and kill me."

"I promise to try not to kill you."

"Yeah, that'll do, I guess. I love you."
