You and Zack had met in University, you were studying pathology and he was studying for his doctorates. You had always had a crush on him. Throughout the years you had tried to help him with his social anxiety as well as recognizing social cues. He, however, had been more focused on Naomi, or Doctor Brennan or getting his doctorate than noticing the pining looks and the very unsubtle hints you had dropped. Angela and Cam had noticed trying to get you to tell him. Hodgins kept trying to tell Zack your feelings for him. Zack never talked to you about them. Being a pathologist and having no social life mainly due to your unrequited love and the fact no one wanted to date someone who worked with corpses.

Gazing out your window at the stars in the apartment you shared with Zack. You were trying to find your favourite constellation. Columba. The Dove. It had always been your favourite, ever since it Zack had pointed it out, you had gone for a walk with him the night before your last exam. Your anxiety had you panicking and the pair of you had decided to go for a walk to calm done. Zack had spent the entire time, talking to you about the constellation. You were toying with an acceptance letter in your hands. An acceptance letter to be a pathologist in New York. Your family lived there and you wanted to go back. You also wanted to get away from your massive crush on Zack. Leaving the Jeffersonian though, I can't do that. You had worked hard to get where you were now and now you wanted to leave. Anything to get away from this crippling crush.

The next day, you were still on the fence about what to do. While you were performing an autopsy, Zack walked in. "Have you finished with the flesh yet?"

"No."

"Why?"

"Because I am just like you, I don't want to miss anything. I like to get all the facts and make sure that I have all the information that I can get from what I have to work with. I might miss something if I rush to accommodate you so be patient." Zack looked pained as if having to wait was a huge inconvenience to him. "But doctor Brennan...."

"Can wait." He huffed. "If you want to wait here fine, if not leave. I am very busy." He turned away slightly before turning back. "I'm going out with Naomi, soon. We are going to look at the stars." Swallowing the lump in your throat. You held back tears before answering him. "That's nice." You managed to croak out. He seemed happy with your answer. He left to inform Brennan of about the bones. Cam entered. "You tell him?" Shaking your head, you finished with the body. Washing up, you moved away to sign the paperwork. You watched as Zack kissed Naomi on the cheek and walk away. The lump got harder to swallow and the tears returned but you refused to let them fall, you walked away with a wave to Cam. You passed, a young doctor friend of Cam's. Doctor Benjamin Pierce. He smiled at you softly and you felt your heart lift slightly.
