We were both young when I first saw you
I close my eyes and the flashback starts
I'm standing there on a balcony in summer air

You stood on your balcony in LA in the house you shared with Mac. As you closed your eyes you were sent back to Mission City, you were fifteen as was your best friends Mac and Bozer. You thought back to the blossoming feelings between you and Mac that summer. The way you both danced around your feelings and how you both refused to admit how you felt even to yourselves. Neither of you knew how the other felt.

"Hello, Y/N."

"Hey, Mac, Bozer." The boys grinned at you. "Whatcha doing?" Mac began to explain in inmese detail what he was doing both you and Bozer stopped listening halfway through. Bozer was more interested in the way the light played of the grass and was filming it. You were busy daydreaming. "Guys."

"Sorry Mac." The three of you moved off to set off whatever Mac had made. You totally didn't catch fire to the treehouse.

Little did I know
That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles

And I was crying on the staircase

"Dad, please."

"I said no. You cannot date that Mac boy."

"Why?"

"Because I said so." Your father turned to Mac who was standing in your doorway with drooping flowers. "I'm sorry but you cannot go out with my daughter."

And I said,

It hadn't mattered what your father had said, you remained friends and a relationship had bloomed somewhere along the lines. "Go out with me anyway."

"Hear I thought you were a boy scout."

"That a yes." You nodded, and he kissed you gently.

So I sneak out to the garden to see you

You would sneak out at night to see each other or would meet up with Bozer during the day as not to appear suspicious. It broke Mac's heart for you to have to hide your relationship with him, but the smile you gave him whenever you met up at night made it all worth it.

You opened your eyes as Mac wrapped his arms around you. "Let's continue our love story." He muttered in your ear, holding a red velvet box out in front of you. The gem glittering in the sun.

"Yes."
