Bucky watched as you danced around the music that was flowing through the room. You were half dancing by yourself, half teaching Peter and Ned how to dance. Your eyes caught his for a split second. He felt a surge of love go through him, but he didn't move from his spot by the bar. Steve ambled up to his friend, noting the yearning looks that Bucky sent your way. "You know, you could ask her out." Bucky huffed a laugh, "She won't go out with me."

"That's because you haven't asked her yet." Bucky flashed a rueful grin. "She'd say no anyway." Bucky turned back to the bar as Steve addressed his back. "As the world's expert on waiting too long, don't. You both deserve a win."

Bucky had wandered over to you as a slow song started and had asked you dance. Everyone else had either paired off or in Ned and Peter's case gone home to build Lego Death Star. You danced with Bucky, he was staring at you while you rested your head on his shoulder. He pressed a kiss to your hair. He opened his mouth to ask you out, but he didn't want to ruin the moment. He kept swaying with you in his arms. His mind was going over all the what if's.
