You smiled as you tucked into your chocolate brownie. It was still steamingly warm and the chocolate syrup made the already gooey brownie taste amazing. The cold dollop of ice cream on top of it contrasted on your tongue and sent shivers down your spine. The chocolatey, vanilla flavour filled your mouth and covered your palate and you couldn't help but close your eyes and hum in relaxation.

You'd just eaten a freshly backed and toasted baguette and were onto your dessert. You loved this so much and felt every muscle in your body relax.

"Doctor, what's your favourite place on earth?" You asked, digging into the almost completely eaten brownie.

She looked at you, confused and then her face turned into an amused one.

"What? Do I have something on my face?" You asked as you saw amused faces staring at you from all your friends.

The doctor shook her head, chuckling a little.

"No, it's just..you ask a lot of questions" the doctor replied, taking a sip of her hot chocolate before trying to lick the mini marshmallows off.

You shrugged your shoulders, putting a spoonful of the heavenly dessert into your mouth.

"I'm always chasing for answers. Why do you think I'm so wondrous?" You smiled, swallowing the hot and cool dessert.

"I love all of earth. But I went to the great barrier reef once and that was so beautiful. There were fish and corral everywhere. And the water was beautifully warm. I liked it there. I swear I also swam with sharks after that too! They're incredible creatures" the doctor smiled as she spoke, remembering the event happening to her.

There was a comfortable silence between the five of you as you sat, smiling at looking out to the Eiffel Tower. You'd finished your entire brownie now and placed the spook down, flopping back into your chair, rubbing your stomach.

"I'm so glad I've finally eaten some earth food and not some weird alien food which I don't even know the contents of" you chuckled with the others.

You closed your eyes in the sun, folding your arms in peace. You breathed deeply before getting up.

"I'm just going to take a moment outside." You smiled, walking out.

You breathed the cool, refreshing air in deeply, all of the cool substance reaching your insides. You loved this so much, just a relaxing getaway for once. No aliens, no lasers to dodge, no bombs to diffuse, no lives to save. Just...peace. You released the breath you didn't realise you were holding, opening your eyes to be greeted with the beautiful tower standing a little in front of the sun now.

"(Y/n)!" A voice shouted your name.

Your heart almost stopped when you heard it, instantly knowing who it was. But it couldn't be. You started to shake a little in disbelief, forcing yourself to turn in the direction of the voice only to be greeted by a familiar woman putting a sun cap on your head.

"I told you to put this on. And you didn't put the sun cream on, you're going to get sunburnt, come here" she smiled, splurging some cream on her hands before rubbing it between her palms.

You kept your eyes on the woman in front of you in disbelief. Your heart rugged as soon as you saw her. It was your mother. She was acting so casual, she was so...alive! She gently moved her hands to your face, rubbing the suncream all over your face. You watched her, tears brewing in your eyes. You longed for the warm, gentle touch of your mother for so long. And here she was. Mothering you like she always did. She looked exactly the way you remembered it to always have been.

"You know what I'm not even going to question how you managed to change your clothes in such a small amount of time. I've learnt when it comes to you to just roll with it" she smiled, looking at your clothes then back at you.

She smiled, stepping away as she finished rubbing in the sun block. You could no longer stop your aching heart and you let the tears pool out of your eyes, embracing her into a hug, holding onto her for dear life.

"(Y/n)? Is everything alright?" She questioned in concern, rubbing circled with the palm of her hand on your back soothingly.

You squeezed her as though your life depended on it, sobbing and enduring this warm hug.

"Mum....I missed you so much" you whispered, clinging onto her "...mummy....."

"It's been a long time since you've called me that" she laughed lightly, pulling away from the embrace "you were the one that wanted to go exploring by yourself. So off you go. Remember, back by five at the hotel and not a minute later!" She smiled, whipping your tears and walking away.

You were confused for a few minutes as you watched her walk away from you, making sure you weren't imagining it. She felt real enough when you hugged her. Then it hit you. The doctor must have coincidently landed on the exact day you were here with your sister and mum on holiday a year ago. You smiled, in happiness, also a little sadness, knowing you couldn't interfere and see her again. You wanted to go up to her but knew you couldn't. But you were grateful for the chance to see her again.

You slowly returned to reality after loosing sight of your mother around the bend. You smiled, letting your heart calm down before you walked back inside the restaurant, sitting back down next to the doctor, smiling stupidly to yourself.

"Where d'you get the hat?" Graham asked, looking at you in confusion.

You didn't really hear as you were day dreaming, remembering and coming to terms with what had just happened. You were only snapped back into reality when you saw the doctor waving her hand in front of your face, to which you looked up.

"Huh.." you looked around, completely clueless as to what they were saying.

"Hat." Ryan simply said, glancing up at your hat then back to your eyes.

"Oh, a nice woman gave it to me" you smiled, feasting your elbows on the table and placing your head in your hands while smiling at the memory.

"(Y/n) you shouldn't be talking to strangers. You need to be careful" the doctor said with concerned eyes.

You smiled, taking a sip of your french wine. The others seemed to shrug it off, getting up, paying for the food and leaving for the TARDIS.

You looked back, not to the beautiful Eiffel Tower that still caught the others attention, but to the crowds. Wondering if you were going to get another glimpse of your mother. You smiled to yourself, shaking your head, of course not.

But that one time seeing her again for just a few minutes was enough.
