Down

You looked around desperately trying to catch even a glimpse of anyone. The waves kept bashing your head though and you could barely see anything. The sky was dark now, the sun having set. Ever limb hurt from fatigue and you couldn't see anyone else.

"Guys! Where are you!" You shouted between the waves of water and your gasps.

You don't get any response and you decided on swimming further onwards, hoping to find some of the guys. Your heart was pounding and your body was burning, especially your arms and lungs. You'd never really swam this hard before and you had no idea where you were. You were lost. And that was one of your biggest fears. Being lost, not knowing where you were.

"Guys!" You shouted out again for them, going under for a few seconds because of a huge wave.

You came up again, gasping for air, trying to keep yourself calm. You were really lost. All you could see was water. Too much water. You started to feel really scared, the idea of being lost setting in. You tried not to break down, calling out for the others again and desperately trying to look around for them.

"It's okay, it's okay" you whispered to yourself, trying to calm your racing heart down "just keep swimming, just keep swimming... just...keep swimming.." you shakily sang to yourself, hoping that the music would be some comfort.

You swam around, calling out for everyone but getting nothing. You couldn't help but feel scared about being on your own and completely lost. You had no idea where you were and it terrified you. You tried taking a deep breath, deciding to sing to calm yourself down.

"Just keep swimming.
The rocks are rough.
The tide is tough.
The current takes you under.
You find the surface just in time, to hear the distant thunder.
But you'll find peace the wars will cease, where the river ends.
And you will find safe harbor, in the arms of all your friends.
More than ever, you have got to stay strong.
Keep your head up princess, you don't want your crown to fall, just stand tall, and through it all.
Just keep swimming.
Just keep swimming."

It was stupid that you were singing this song but you needed to to help yourself through it. It helped. Music always did. And you did keep swimming, calling out for the others again.

"(Y/n)?" You heard a distant call for you.

You wondered if you imagined it until you heard your name bing called out again.

"(Y/n)?! Is that you?!" The voice called out again.

"Yeah! Oh my god, yeah it's me! I'm here!" You shouted out, trying to look for the source of the call. "Where are you?!"

"By your left! We're quite far away! Swim towards us, we'll swim towards you as well!" The voice shouted.

"Okay!" You shouted back, swimming to your left.

You couldn't quite recognise the voice but you knew it was a feminine voice. It sounded like Missy's voice more like anyone else's. And it proved to be right when you heard her voice clearly call or for you.

"We're coming! Can you see us?!" She shouted.

And you could see them. They were getting close to you now. And it brought a smile to your face.

"Yeah!" You shouted before another wave crashed against you briefly putting you under again before your head popped up again.

When you came up you saw her face, Missy was right next to you now. She wrapped her arms around your waist to keep you afloat and you couldn't help but fling your arms around her.

"It's okay, it's okay. We've got you" She soothed you.

"I was lost.." you chocked on your words and you buried your face in her neck, letting the warm water rush past over you.

"It's okay. I'm here" she whispered softly to you.

You nodded your head, taking some deep breaths before pulling away from her. You looked around and frowned when you saw that it was only Ryan and Graham with you guys.

"Where are the doctor and Yaz?" You asked.

"We don't know. But I intend on getting back to the TARDIS and doing a scan on the place so I can just teleport them into the TARDIS. We all need to swim down to the TARDIS now" she told you all.

"Okay. But..we don't know where the TARDIS is" Ryan said.

"I do. Now come on you guys. All of you, stay close, it's not far from here before we have to go down" she told you.

You didn't argue as you followed her. Missy kept a hand on your arm to keep you close but you couldn't help but feel butterflies at the contact. God, you needed to stop, this was not the place to be crushing!

You swam a while until Missy stopped and she looked at you all, giving you a look.

"We're going to have to swim down underneath now. So...hold your breaths!" She told you "and don't stop swimming"

You all nodded, sucking in a deep breath for the second time. Missy dunked under first and you all followed after. You kept your eyes on Missy, making sure not to get lost underwater. That would have been bad. You kept following her figure, ignoring the burn in your limbs and the increasing burning in your lungs.

You kept swimming down, hoping that it wasn't far until you got to the TARDIS. You were glad you took those extra swimming lessons as a kid, they proved to be helpful in situations like this.

You just kept going, singing that song in your head again. Just keep swimming. That's all you needed to do. Follow Missy back to the TARDIS and you'll be safe. Endure the pain for a while and then it'll be gone. You can treat yourself to some ice cream and chocolate and even some alcohol in your room when you get back. All if you just keep swimming!

And that's what you did, your whole body, inside and out, hurting. So the relief when you saw the TARDIS was unbelievable. You quickly made your way there, and as soon as you made your way through the TARDIS doors, you fell down because of the gravity and lack of water, but you also took some huge and deep, desperately needed breaths of air.

You sat down and just took some deep breaths, not really acknowledging anything else. Just internally celebrating that you got back safely. But that was soon cut off when you heard Missy.

"Doctor?!" She called out worriedly.

You looked up and saw that she was doing CPR on Yaz on the ground. The doctor's hands were shaky and failing to gain enough energy to perform CPR on Yaz properly. Tears were streaming down her face. You panicked when you saw that Yaz wasn't moving at all.

"Missy...s..she's..she's not breathing..." the doctor cried between tears.
