It was a regular night in the Wilson house. Devyn was reading a book about mythical creatures. Ryan, her brother, was playing some video game in his room. Her mom, Cheryl, was in the kitchen making dinner for the family, and her dad, Thomas, was in his office looking for another hunt.

Thomas had been looking for something to hunt for hours and had found nothing. Just as he was about to give up looking for the night, his phone started to ring. Seeing that it was John Winchester calling, he answered immediately.

"Hey, John. You got something?"

"Yeah, I've found him," John's gruff voice came through the phone.

"You found the Demon," Thomas asked in shock, "How?"

"It doesn't matter how. What matters is that I found the son of a bitch! Now can you help me or not?" John asked, aggravated.

"Yeah, yeah, we can help. Where is he?" Thomas asked carefully, not wanting to set off his best friend.

"Morris, Illinois. Now, are you coming or not," John asked, quickly growing impatient.

Thomas sighed into the phone, knowing this would be a long and dangerous trip, "Okay, okay, yeah, we will help. Let me catch Cheryl up, and we will meet you at your house in two hours."

With that, John gave a quick okay before hanging up the phone. Thomas made his way to the kitchen and watched as his wife hummed softly while cooking chicken on the stovetop.

When she noticed Thomas watching, she asked, "Did you find anything?"

"Yeah, but I don't think you're gonna like it," Thomas stated cautiously.

Cheryl gave him a quizzical look, "Okay, well, what is it?"

"John called," Thomas said, sighing loudly.

Her face fell instantly, mood drastically changing from happy to complete seriousness, "Did he find the damn thing?"

"Yeah, it's in Morris, Illinois, and he asked if we could help him out," Thomas explained.

Letting out a heavy sigh, knowing how dangerous this hunt was going to be, Cheryl looked up to her husband and said, "Okay, let's tell the kids, and then pack after dinner."

With that, they called their kids into the kitchen for dinner, and as they were eating their food, Thomas cleared his throat loudly. Cheryl rolled her eyes at the man as Devyn and Ryan looked up from their plates.

"You good, Dad?" Devyn asked curiously, eyeing the man strangely.

"Um... yeah. Listen, John called, and he needs our help with a hunt, and your mom and I are going over there to help after dinner," Thomas explained the situation to his kids.

Devyn looked between her mom and dad quickly as Ryan asked them, "Okay, well do you guys need our help? We can come with."

"Oh, no. We are good with this one, but we might be gone for about a week because it's in Illinois," Cheryl told her children calmly. She knew that this could very well be her last dinner with them, and she didn't want anything to set them off. If they knew what they were going after, they would insist on coming with, and she couldn't risk their lives too.

"Oh, the corn state," Devyn responded sarcastically, "What is this hunt? A vampire, demon, poltergeist?"

Cheryl and Thomas shared a quick look before Thomas answered, "Just a poltergeist, nothing we can't handle."

Devyn seemed suspicious but let it go before nodding and going back to eating her food. Once they finished their dinners and everything's as cleaned up, Cheryl and Thomas packed up their weapons into their truck. Once that was finished, they made their way to their children to say goodbye.

When they were done giving their hugs, Devyn said, "Be careful, and come back home safely."

Cheryl and Thomas sent their oldest child a small smile before making their way to the truck. As Devyn watched them drive away, she could help this dark feeling she felt like she'd never see her parents again.

A/N

Hello beautiful people! Just so you know, this is the first of many flashbacks I will be putting in this book. They are a series of events that explain what happened to her parents, brother and how she ended up with the Winchester's.

I will be hopefully updating this book every Monday/ Tuesday, depending on work and school. This is my first book, so I hope it isn't too terrible.

Also, if you guys were wondering who I picture Devyn as, it's Camilla Luddington. She played Jo in Grey's Anatomy and was tomb raider in the game. Her picture is on the cover of the book.

Until next time lovelies 😘
