Disturbing The Peace

It's been three weeks since my incident with the shapeshifter. I got the stitches taken out of the gashes on my arm and leg last week. The only thing reminding me of that terrible night was the bandages I still wore on my neck and shoulder. The doctor said I can't do any strenuous activities for four more weeks until those are fully healed, which I think is complete and utter crap. The only good thing that came from that damn hunt was the fact that Dean told me he loved me. Since we both exchanged those confessions, the tense atmosphere around us disappeared, and was replaced with complete content. For example right now, we were both casually holding hands while sipping on our coffee at a small diner.

"Do you think he's gonna find anything from this payphone, or nothing like every other one he tries," I asked Dean, taking a sip from my extra large coffee.

"Probably not," He answered back, putting the newspaper in his hand down. I hummed in response. "You should probably slow down on the coffee. That's your third one today, and it's only nine in the morning. You won't be able to sleep," Dean points out.

"Yeah, I know. That's the point," I retorted. He gave me a disapproving look as Sam made his way back over to our table, "Did you find out anything," I asked him before Dean could continue our conversation.

"Nope," Sam said bitterly, taking a sip of his vanilla flavored coffee. "I mean I checked the FBI's missing person's files and nothing," He continued.

"I know you might not want to hear this, but Sam, I don't think dad wants to be found," Dean said matter of factly.

Sam and I both rolled our eyes as Dean adjusted his computer, "Check this out, missing body in Calumet County, Iowa. It's only a few hundred miles away from here."Sam started to read the article out loud.

"Oh, this is gonna be fun, sweetheart," he said to me, dragging the knife down my arm.

"Devyn!" Dean shouted at me, waving his hand in front of my face, "You with us?"

I cleared my throat, and nodded. I didn't even realize I had spaced out like that. Although it has been happening since that night. I can't get his white eye's out of my head.

"Are you sure, you look a little pale," Sam asked, concerned.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine, sorry, so are we going or..." I asked smiling, trying to cover up my momentary panic.

"Yeah, let's go see this Invisible Man," Dean said, giving my hand a squeeze of reassurance. This is something he's been doing ever since that night, to remind me that I was here. That this was real.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Okay, stay in the car, while me and Sam go talk to some idiots," Dean said laughing.

"And, what exactly do you think you're gonna get from these idiots, Dean. These are frat boys, they are probably all already drunk, especially since it's Friday," I asked from the back seat.

Dean turned in his seat to look at me, and sent me one of his signature smirks, "I have my ways."

I rolled my eyes laying down in the back seat, waving my own idiots away. A few minutes later they were back in the car, and we were heading to a church.

"Can, one of you explain to me why we are going to a church," I asked, confused.

"Get this, the kid that died was out on a date with the reverend's daughter," Sam explained almost excited.

I let out a small chuckle, "Wow, calm down there buddy, no need to get too excited about that."I continued to laugh, and Dean let out a loud laugh himself. This earned us both a glare from Sam. I couldn't help but chuckle again as we made our way up the steps of the church, and made our way towards the main hall.

"Shut up," Sam mumbled.

"Oh that's no way to speak to a lady, in the Lord's house, Sam," I teased.

"Alright both of you stop it, game faces on," Dean scolded, with a hint of a smile on his face.

We made our way through the door into the main room, where there was a ceremony taking place, and Dean let the door slam shut behind him. I couldn't help but close my eyes and sigh loudly before turning back and giving him an irritated look. He looked back at me with an embarrassed smile as the priest paused his speech for a second. We sat down in the last pew, as he continued on with his monologue.

"Seriously, Dean," I whisper, yelled at him, hitting him in the arm. This action caused me to wince because I caused my wound on my shoulder to pull.

He looked at me and immediately asked, "Are you okay," as he reached for my shoulder.

I quickly pushed his hand away as I muttered, "I'm fine, now stop being stupid, and start being respectful. They are mourning right now."

He put his hands up in mock surrender, and Sam let out a small chuckle next to us. As I looked up to the front I noticed the girl in the front row looking at Sam. I looked over to him, to see him smiling back at her

"Looks like the Reverend's daughter has a thing for you now," I teased. This caused Sam to blush, and me and Dean to start giggling again.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Once the ceremony was over we sat back for a second while everyone emptied out of the church, before following after the girl Sam shared a smile with earlier.

"Are you Lori," I asked her politely as we all approached her.

She seemed a little taken back but answered, "Yeah."

"My name is Sam, and this is my brother Dean, and his girlfriend Devyn," Sam introduced us, causing me to smile softly. Hearing the word girlfriend and Dean in the same sentence still makes my heart flutter a little bit. "We just transferred here, we don't want to bother you. We just heard what happened," Sam continued.

"We just wanted to say how sorry we are for your loss," Dean finished.

The girl just looked at us, so Sam took this as a queue to keep talking, "I kinda know what you're going through, I saw someone I cared about get hurt... once," he trailed off awkwardly.

Her father then made his way over to us, "Dad, this is Sam, Dean, and Devyn. They are new students here," she introduced us.

I sent the man a warm smile as I shook his hand, "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir."

I sent Dean a glance, and he immediately knew what I was thinking. Well, half of it anyway. He immediately grabbed Lori's dad's attention and took him to the side and started asking him about some church group.

I smiled at Sam as I said, "Well, I will be right back, I have to go use the little girls room."

Lori smiled at me, putting a hand on my injured shoulder, and said, "It was nice meeting you Devyn, we should hang out sometime."

I struggled to send a smile her way, as the weight over her hand on my wound sent a wave of panic through me. I quickly scurried away, actually making my way to the bathroom. I wasn't actually going to go, but I need somewhere to go to be by myself, so I can calm down the panic, before it gets too bad. She had to put her hand there, she just had to. Sam and Dean both knew better, but how could she. It's not like she knew I was tortured less than a month ago.

As I made it into the bathroom, I quickly turned around and shut the door locking it. My breathing was erratic as I leaned over the sink, grabbing both sides of it. I didn't dare look into the mirror, afraid of what I'd see.

Deep breaths, Devyn, deep breaths. He's not here anymore. Dean killed him. She didn't mean to do it, it was an accident. Deep breaths, this is real. I have nothing to be scared about.

A knock came from the door, distracting me from my thoughts, "Devyn, you in there," Dean's voice traveled through the door.

I cleared my throat finally looking into the mirror, mentally preparing myself to go back into the real world, "Yeah, just a minute." I quickly washed my hands and splashed some water on my face. I opened the door with the best smile I could muster up and asked, "Are you guys ready to go?"Dean gave me a suspicious look, but nodded nonetheless, and grabbed my hand leading me back to the car.
