Goodbye Mr. Carlton

It took us a while to find the house that Lucas drew in the picture for us, but we finally found it. The only difference is there was no red bike outside the house. The woman who lived in the house was very kind and invited us into her home.

"Ma'am, is there a little boy who lives here who owns a red bicycle?" Dean asked the lady.

She seemed saddened by the mention of it, "No, not for a very long time. Peter's been gone for 35 years now," she explained. "The police - I never knew what happened to him. He just disappeared. You know it's worse than dying."

As the older woman explained the unfortunate events, I couldn't help but notice the toy soldiers on the counter. I nudged both of the boys and nodded toward them, and we all shared a look. This can't be a coincidence. That after Lucas's dad's death, he started to draw pictures that involved Peter and started to play with toy soldiers himself.

"Did he disappear from here? From this house?" Dean asked in a soothing voice.

"He was supposed to come home right after school, and he never showed up," She explained to us.

Dean noticed a picture of a young boy on a bike and another boy next to him. I followed Dean to look at it myself and was shocked to see Billy Carlton's name on the back.

I feel like I've gone to this guy's house seven times today, and it irks me that we still don't understand what is going on here.

"Okay, so this little boy, Peter Sweeny vanishes, and this is all connected to Bill Carlton somehow," Sam pointed out what we already knew, but the question was why.

"Yeah, Bill sure seems to be hiding something, huh," Dean questioned suspiciously.

"And Bill and all the people he loves are all getting punished," Sam continued.

"So what if Bill did something to Peter? What if Bill killed him," I asked from the back seat.

The boys seemed to be convinced that he was the one who killed him, and as we got closer to his house, Dean said, "If he did kill Peter, then his spirit would want revenge. It's possible."

We pulled up to the house and got out of the car. Bill didn't seem to be home, but then I heard an engine coming from the lake. I turned around to see Mr. Carlton on a boat heading to the middle of the lake, and I burst into a sprint, running as fast as I could to get to the dock.

"Mr. Carlton! We need you to get out of the water!" the boys and I yelled to the man, but he didn't seem to be listening to us. As soon as he hit the middle of the lake, his boat was flung through the air, and he never resurfaced the water.

"Damn it!" I shouted in frustration, hitting the bench on the dock. We lost another one.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thinking it would be the smart thing to do, we called the Sheriff and filled him in on what had happened to Mr. Carlton, and we are headed to the station right now. When we reached the station, we walked into it with the Sheriff himself. When we got inside, Andrea and Lucas were sitting inside, waiting.

"Sam, Dean, Devyn, I didn't expect to see you here," Andrea said.

Sheriff Barr eyed the three of us while saying, "I didn't know we were on a first-name basis. What are you doing here?" He asked his daughter.

Sheriff Barr and his daughter conversed with each other while the three of us stood back a bit, but I couldn't help but notice how scared Lucas looked. Dean apparently noticed especially when the Sheriff suggested they should go home. Lucas shot up in fear and started to tug on Dean's arm.

"Hey, Lucas. Lucas, it's okay. Lucas, you're gonna be okay," Dean said, trying to reassure him.

Something isn't right. He shouldn't be freaked out anymore, and Peter got what he wanted. He got Bill, and this should be over. After the episode, Andrea and Lucas left the station. The Sheriff called us out on our bullshit about being Wildlife Services and kicked us out of his town. Great.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------We hit a sign the said Milwaukee on it and stopped at the stoplight. I noticed Dean hesitating, and he knew something was wrong too. I just have this feeling, kind of like when my parents went on that hunt, that something wasn't right.

"Green," Sam said impatiently.

"What?" Dean asked, confused.

"The light's green," Sam said in a tone that hinted that it should be obvious what he meant.

Dean hesitated again for a few more seconds before turning right back into town.

"Uh, the interstate is the other way," Sam said, confused as to why we are going back.

"He knows. We are going back," I said to Sam.

"Why would we go back? The job's over," Sam said, trying to get Dean to turn around.

"I'm not so sure about that," Dean retorted.

"Look, Peter's spirit got revenge on Bill. His spirit should be at rest," Sam pointed out.

"It doesn't explain why Lucas was so scared at the police station, though," I said.

"That's what this is about?" Sam asked Dean.

"Look, I just don't want to leave town until I know the kids okay," Dean said defensively.
