Inside the Magic Circle

After helping Sam and Dean draw Anasazi symbols around the campsite to protect us and explaining what they were to Hailey, again, I sat down on a rock. I was still mad at Roy for getting in our faces earlier.

Roy was laughing at Dean about there being a Wendigo out here. Dean gave Roy a cold look and said, "Nobody likes a skeptic, Roy," and turned around, walking towards me.

I smiled up to Dean and said, "You can see why I hate him now, right?"

"Hehe, yeah. Next time try to control your temper," Dean said.

"You telling me to control my temper. That's rich," I said jokingly. Dean sat down next to me and nudged my shoulder. I looked up to see Hailey staring at us, "It looks like your girlfriend over there is jealous," I said, pointing Hailey out to Dean.

Dean gave me a weird look and said, "Hailey? She's not-"

"No? Then why have you been flirting with each other all day. It's clear she likes you and is threatened by me," I cut him off, jokingly.

Dean smirked at me, "Are you sure it's not the other way around?"

"Excuse me?" I asked, confused.

"Are you sure you're not the one that's jealous?" Dean asked.

I couldn't help but laugh at the man, me jealous. "Look, I'm not jealous. You're my best friend, and I want what's best for you. Maybe you should stop playing around with girls like they are toys and actually try with someone," I explained.

Dean looked me in the eyes, searching for a way to respond to what I've just said. I could have definitely delivered that better, but what I said was true, and he needs to realize it. "You know I could never settle down with this job we have, plus it's more fun to have a variety," Dean finally said with a smirk.

I rolled my eyes at the man, nudging him this time, "Dean Winches-"

"Help me!" the same voice from earlier cut me off. Dean and I were both on our feet in seconds, looking for the creature hunting us. We made our way to the fire where everyone else was, and we cocked our guns so we could fire them if needed. I held a flashlight toward the forest to help try and see the monster.

"He's trying to draw us out, just stay cool and stay put," Dean said calmly.

"Inside the magic circle?" Roy asked, fear causing his voice to shake.

I glared at the man but didn't say anything. I was too concerned with keeping everyone alive to come up with something to say to him.

"Help me! Please!" the yells were cut off by a screech of some kind like an animal had killed the man.

Something started to run around us at a fast speed. It had us all pointing our guns in different directions. I think we pissed it off by not taking the bait of the voice. Roy shot the thing four times and said that he hit it while taking off after it.

"Roy! No, stay in the circle!" I yelled after him, but it was too late. I turned to Hailey and her brother and yelled, "Stay here, and don't move."

Dean, Sam, and I ran after Roy to see if he was okay. We looked everywhere, and he was nowhere to be found, so we made our way back to safety for the night.

The next morning we packed our things up and explained the Wendigo to the two siblings.

"Wendigo's are men at first, but because of their cannibalistic diet, they slowly turn into something more animalistic over time," I said.

"If this is true. How can Tommy still be alive" Hailey asked.
