A/N:

This flashback is short, and it is an explanation of how Devyn's parents had died.

Also, I will be traveling to Minnesota tomorrow, so I might update a few chapters tomorrow because it is an eight-hour drive.

Enjoy!

Third Person: Parents Last Night Alive: The Hunt

Cheryl, Thomas, and John waited patiently outside a typical family home, waiting for the son of a bitch that killed John's wife to show up. John had been tracking the Demon for a while, and he knew exactly what happens before he shows up.

"John, are you sure this is where the Demon is coming? It's almost midnight," Cheryl asked cautiously, trying not to set the obsessed man off.

John looked at the woman with irritation, "Of course I'm sure. I wouldn't have driven out here if I wasn't!"

It was quiet for a few minutes, the atmosphere taking a drastic turn. It only turned worse when Thomas noticed a man inside the house through a window. He quickly pointed it out to the other hunters in the truck, and they were out of it in seconds. Quickly rushing to the house, John picked the lock to the front door. As they entered, a bat came out of nowhere and hit Thomas right in the gut.

"Go! Go upstairs, save the mom and the baby!" Thomas yelled to his wife and best friend.

There were no protests as the two made their way up the stairs, though they had different plans. John only wanted one thing and one thing only, to kill the thing that killed his wife. When they reached the room, the mother was already on the ceiling, gut cut open. Cheryl ran for the baby but was quickly thrown into the wall by the Demon. John was too slow drawing his gun, and the Demon had already fed the baby his blood.

Meanwhile, Thomas was trying to talk sense into the father downstairs, but he was getting nowhere. Thomas heard Cheryl scream from upstairs and opted for knocking the man out. He ran upstairs thinking only one thing, and he couldn't lose his wife.

Cheryl let out another scream as she was slowly being lifted on the wall. John let out an enraged yell pulling his gun out and shooting the damn thing, but it didn't seem to be fazed like most demons would've been. Thomas ran in and saw what was happening to his wife, fear, and anger fueling his actions. He quickly took out his gun and shot the Demon three times. Before he could do anymore, the Demon had thrown him into the wall as well.

"Let them go!" John yelled out in anger.

"John!" Cheryl yelled out in fear on the ceiling, just like the mother was. "John, you take care of my children, you hear me!"

As Cheryl asked this of him, her stomach was cut open, same as the mother's, screaming in agony.

"You son of a bitch! Let her go!" Thomas yelled in anger, still stuck to the wall.

The Demon was fed up with this event's circumstances and easily threw John out of the room and over the balcony. He landed grunting in pain, unable to get up.

"You should've let it be!" the Demon spoke to Thomas, "You should've just let it happen. Now you, your wife, and your friend are all going to die. Well, your wife is already dead," he added with a twisted smirk.

"You son of a-" before Thomas could finish his sentence, and the Demon snapped his neck.

Downstairs, John had finally found enough strength to get up, but he was too late. The room was already engulfed in flames. He knew his best friends were dead. He quickly escaped the house before the Demon could kill him too.

As he drove back to Kansas, all he could think about was Cheryl's last request. But how would he be able to take care of four kids all by himself, and how would the Wilson's take the loss.
