I Promise

We arrived at Andrea's house soon after, and Lucas answered the front door in a frenzy. I knew it, and something was happening.

"Lucas, where is your mom?" I asked him quickly.

Dean tried to calm the kid down, but he just ran away from us and up the stairs. We all followed closely behind him, and water was running down the stairs. Lucas ran to the bathroom door, trying to open it. I grabbed the kid and handed him over to Dean. Dean nodded to me, signaling he's got him. Sam kicked in the door, and we both ran into the bathroom. Andrea was submerged under the water flailing around desperately. Sam and I both darted to the tub, grabbing on to her. Damn, this thing was strong. Sam and I both grunted from the amount of effort it took to get her out. Just as we thought we got her out, the force pulled her down again, and I with her. I quickly came back up for air and returned to pulling at the woman's body.

"Come on!" I yelled. We were finally able to pry her from the bathtub. Sam had her in his arms and quickly covered her with a towel while I unclogged the drain, letting all the water out. I dropped to the floor in exhaustion, leaning my head against the tub. I shared a look with Dean, nodding to him to signal I was okay.

After the whole event, Andrea went to her room and got dressed, while Dean and I took Lucas down to the kitchen, Sam following closely behind us. I was still out of breath from what had happened, so I sat down on the closest chair I could find.

"Hey, I'm gonna go look in the library. Come with me," Dean demanded. I think I freaked him out earlier when I went underwater for that brief second, and now he won't let me out of his sight. I nodded, not arguing, and followed him into the Sheriff's office room.

"Sit down," Dean ordered.

I looked at him but didn't argue. To be honest, I could use a rest that took a lot out of me. I'm still out of breath, and I can tell Dean notices. It's not like it's hard to miss. I'm breathing like a dying cow right now.

Dean went to the wall of books looking for information. He was quiet for a few minutes before he said, "You scared me up there."

I looked up at him to see he was already looking my way, "I'm sorry," I huffed out.

His face turned serious, "Seriously, I thought I was gonna lose you too," Dean said.

My face contorted in confusion, "What do you mean, too?" I asked.

Dean ran his hands over his face and through his short-cut hair, a habit he does when he's anxious, "Just, I promised you I'd never leave you, I need you to promise me the same. I can't lose any more people I care about," Dean pleaded.

I was shocked for a minute. I mean, Dean isn't a real emotional or open guy, so this was new territory, and it was strange. Dean walked over to me and sat on the desk, grabbing my hand, "Please," he begged.

I blinked a few times before replying, "I promise."

That seemed to be the only thing he needed to hear because as soon as the words left my mouth, he went back to work. This was weird, and I didn't really know how to react at this moment. I mean, this is Dean. He never gets like this. I didn't realize how scared Dean gets when he sees me in danger. While I was deep in thought, Dean had found some information about the Sheriff. Dean didn't really explain anything to me before walking out of the room and into the kitchen.

He slammed the book he had down in front of Andrea and asked if she recognized any people in a photo.

"Um, no. Except that's my dad," Andrea said, pointing to one of the young boys.

"Oh my God," I whispered, realizing what this meant.

"Billy and the Sheriff were both involved with Peter," Sam finally said.

Too focused on the revelation we just made, I didn't notice Lucas leave the house until Dean started to follow him.

"Lucas, honey," Andrea tried to call, but he wouldn't stop. He did, however, stopover a mound of moss. Sam and Dean dug up the moss and found a red bike buried, which only confirms that the Sheriff was involved in Peter's murder.

"Who are you," I heard someone ask from behind me, accompanied by the click of a gun. I quickly turned around and shuffled closer to Sam and Dean.

"Put the gun down, Jay," Sam said calmly to the Sheriff.

However, Dean had a different method of going about this, "What happened is you and Bill killed Peter. Drowned him in the lake and buried the bike. You can't bury the truth, Jay."

Andrea came running up, trying to calm her dad down while we tried to explain what was going on right now. He called us crazy but did tell us that he killed Peter. Unfortunately for us, he never buried the body, and he just let Peter go in the lake, which is gonna make this whole ordeal even harder now.

"Listen, we need to get you guys away from this lake, as far as we can go right now," Dean stated.

Andrea turned her head, looking off into the distance. Jay yelled for Lucas as we all ran after him. The kid was on the dock. I don't think I've ever seen Dean run so fast in my life, and if it were even possible, I think he ran faster when Lucas was pulled into the water.

Dean looked back to me and told me to stay out of the water and to keep Andrea out as well, and then he jumped in after Lucas.

Andrea tried to jump in after Sam and Dean, but I held her back from the water. Jay walked into the lake, begging Peter to take him instead of Lucas, and he was pulled under the water. There was a split second where everyone was underwater, and I started to panic. Sam resurfaced and shook his head. Panic started to set in when Dean hadn't come back up yet. I can't lose anyone else I care about in my life. Is this what Dean felt for that one second I was pulled underwater earlier?

"Dean!" I yelled from my spot on the dock, and I'm really trying to keep my cool right now because I'm trying to keep Andrea out of the water, but he's been under the water for too long. Oh god, he's dead. Sam went back under, hopefully, to search for Dean. A few more agonizing seconds passed before Sam resurfaced, and not a second later, so did Dean holding Lucas. I let go of Andrea and collapsed onto the dock, a few tears staining my face. Thank god he's okay.

Once they got out of the water, Andrea ran to Lucas, and I tackled Dean with a hug and whispered in a shaky voice," You almost broke your promise." It took him a few seconds to respond, but he held me tightly and mumbled an apology. Thank the lord, and this job is finally over.
