"Get in line, bow to the Buddha."

Li Suimo and Qin Qing were holding onto Grandma as they were swept up by the crowd and pushed towards the entrance.

The line for praying and drawing fortunes twisted and turned, and many people looked around, thinking it was the exit. Li Suimo's mouth twitched as she watched a group of people lining up to pray, draw lots, and then line up again to interpret their fortunes. Each of them had a look of being taken advantage of, waiting to be ripped off.

The sightseeing route was like a production line, and it was soon their turn.

"What are you praying for?" Qin Qing asked Grandma, but her gaze flickered towards Li Suimo.

"Uh... I want to pray for my career," Li Suimo replied.

"Little girl, what kind of career are you praying for? You should look more at the Red Luan Star!"

Qin Qing smiled. "Grandma's advice makes sense. I'll pray for a good marriage."

Li Suimo: "..."

The three of them took turns drawing lots, and Li Suimo was at the front and the first to receive her lot. She pinched the bamboo lot and didn't look at it, but instead looked at Grandma and asked, "Grandma, what did you get?"

"An auspicious lot," Grandma smiled and turned to look for the monk who interpreted fortunes.

As soon as she left, Qin Qing stepped forward.

Li Suimo held her breath and glanced at Qin Qing's hand.

The cold, slender hand held the bamboo tube, and each shake produced a scattered and dull sound that felt like it was knocking on Li Suimo's heart.

It must be an auspicious lot. Li Suimo thought that if they both got auspicious lots, she would donate some money for the temple. If they both got average or below average lots, it would just be superstitious nonsense.

The bamboo lot fell out of the tube, face down. Qin Qing picked it up, quickly glanced at it, and then put her hand behind her back.

Li Suimo's heart skipped a beat, reflexively thinking that Qin Qing had gotten a bad lot.

"What did you get?" Li Suimo asked.

"Before the fortune is interpreted, you can't let anyone else see it, or it won't work," Qin Qing replied.

Li Suimo fell silent.

"You're talking nonsense, aren't you?" The girl asked firmly.

Qin Qing smiled and quickly caught up with Grandma. The nearly 70-year-old woman asked for a good marriage, and the monk interpreting fortunes was explaining it to her in a professional manner.

Li Suimo listened with one ear, not really hearing anything. She kept her eyes on the nearby recycling bin - the fortunes were useless after they were interpreted and some tourists would take them, but most just tossed them in the bin.

Li Suimo looked at the bin for a moment, then walked over and threw her sweaty lot into it.

"Why did you throw it away?" Qin Qing followed her.

Li Suimo concentrated, "I don't believe this. If I left it to fate, I would have.."

I would have been a worthless cannon fodder in the original book.

But she couldn't say that to Qin Qing.

Li Suimo put on a serious face and said, "It doesn't matter whether it's an average or below average lots. I don't believe in this. Love is love. I won't be swayed by a bamboo stick."
