Getting a new job is always a chore. There's so much to do the first few days, especially if you're an assistant to the chief medical officer. It gets even harder when you have a crush on that chief medical officer.

"Y/N, can you hand me that hypo?" Leonard McCoy asked, holding out his hand. You shyly handed him the hypo. He filled it with an antidote for a virus that's been going around the Enterprise.

"What is the symptoms to this?" You ask, trying to start a conversation.

"Why, you not feeling well?" McCoy asked, looking over at you. You blushed even though it hasn't been anything sweet.

"Well, I've been feeling okay-ish, but I'm just wondering. It feels like an early stage of a cold." You say, crossing your arms in front of your stomach.

"Is your throat and head sore?" McCoy asked, setting down the hypo and turning his full attention on you.

"Yeah. That's the worst of it." You say.

"You might have it. There's no way to tell until later symptoms set in. You'll be very sore and tired. You won't be able to move well. Your head, chest, stomach, and throat will ache." McCoy said, scratching his head. "Why don't you go to your quarters and rest. Our shift is only another half hour, I'll handle it."

"Okay. Thanks." You mutter, walking out of the sickbay.

A couple days later, you could barely get out of bed. You kept falling asleep every five minutes. Moving was incredibly difficult. Sluggishly, you reached for the communicator. "Doctor McCoy." You mutter softly.

"Y/N? Is that you? Are you okay? You haven't been at work." McCoy answered, his voice full of concern.

"Help." You mutter before falling asleep again.

Leonard McCoy rushed to your quarters, med-kit in hand. He used his medical override code to get in. You were asleep in bed, your hand on the communicator.

"Y/N! Y/N," he muttered, scanning your face. It was the virus. He immediately injected you with the antidote and picked you up bridal style. He carried you all the way to the sickbay, concern on his face.

"McCoy." You mutter, waking up a day later.

"Y/N." He said, rushing towards your side.

"What happened." You mutter.

"You got the virus." McCoy said, holding your hand.

"Oh." You mumble, looking over at him.

"I have a quick question." McCoy muttered, looking away nervously.

"What?" You mumble, your heart fluttering.

"Will you go out with me?" He asked, nervously looking at you. You smile and nod, gripping his hand tighter.
