"I can't believe it." You mumble at the doctors office. Your husband, Pavel, held your hand, crying.

"I'm so sorry Mrs and Mr Chekov." The doctor said, giving both of you a supportive hug. You had a miscarriage at twenty weeks. Pavel had been so excited to be a first time father, but now that has crashed.

"Pasha!" You sob, pulling him into a hug.

"Y/N." He sobs, hugging you. Both of you embraced, crying together.

"I'm so sorry Pasha. It's my fault." You tell him, you hand running through his curly hair as you faced him.

"It's not your fault. Things just happen." Pavel insisted, both of his hands in your cheeks, forcing you to look him in the eyes.

"It is." You nod, trying to get him to understand.

"No, no it's not. I don't blame you. Don't blame yourself." Pavel insisted, hugging you tight. You did the same to him, still sobbing. His shirt was wet with tears, his and yours.

"You need to get to work." You choke out when the two of you move away.

"I'm going to skip today and spend it with you. I'll explain to the captain, he'll understand."

"Okay." You mumble, very very quiet.

"Good. Let's go back to our quarters. I'll tell Mr. Scott too that you won't be  at work." Pavel said, his arms still wrapped around you as both of you walked.

When the two of you were back at your quarters, you just laid on the bed upset. You wanted to sleep, but you couldn't. Pavel laid beside you, his arms wrapped around you.

"We'll be okay. We can try again in a few months." Pavel told you, being optimistic.

"Yeah, I guess." You mutter, still staring forward.

"Hey, I still love you." Pavel muttered, kissing your neck to your cheek.

"I still love you." You mumble, gosling his hand over your stomach. "I'll miss this baby. We won't even get to see our first son grow up or even breathe."

"Don't think like that. At least we have a son, living or not. The captains wife can't have kids, so they need to adopt. Same with Joseph's wife." Chekov told you, once again trying to be optimistic. Joseph was one of your friends form the academy that was on the ship.

"I guess." You say, looking down at your stomach.

"Good. Now, we both love each other and that's all we truly need, right?"

"Right."

As mentioned before, I'm not really faithful or religious, but if anyone could pray or just keep my cousin in mind. She's 23 and had two strokes yesterday as a result of blood vessels in her brain rupturing. She's doing okay for now, but she can't feel anything in her left side.
