Chapter 21: Kat's Confession

Ember's POV

"Kat?!" Riko gasped.

"Zura?" Kat said.

I thought about it.

Kat's face went pale the second X brought out the journal.

"Actually Kat, I think you should explain." I said.

"I'm not good with technology, zura!" Kat said.

"Liar!" X shouted. "Drop your act and acknowledge that we know who you really are."

Kat's appearance began to change, until her eyes looked more robotic and there was metal on her chest and arms.

"Interesting theory," she said in a robotic voice. "Except it's completely false."

"Who are you?" Jacob asked.

"Name's Creation 12," Robotic Kat said. "I'm the side of Kat who remembers and knows how to use technology."

"Which means you know how to create bombs," X accused.

"Hate to tell you but I'm not programmed to do that," Creation 12 replied. "I'm a game creation who has a living breathing form too. I was designed to as a Player Guide."

"Like a NPC helper?" I asked and Creation 12 nodded. 

"My programming doesn't include bombs and weapons," she said. "In fact, I don't surface often because it's annoying. So, are you all happy about this? Because here's my word of advice. You need to stop pointing fingers at those with the darkest past all the time, it's not going to solve your human problems."

Creation 12 shifted back into her human form.

Kat looked at us. "Why are you all looking at me like that, zura?" She asked.

"I'm... guessing that you don't remember anything." I said. 

"Nope, zura!" She replied.

"Figures," I said. "You know it must be annoying to switch back and forth all the time."

The small girl shrugged as she snatched her notebook from Xephryes.

"Guess we can rule out Kat then," I said.

Everyone nodded with agreement.

However, much to my surprise, although I shouldn't be too surprised, I saw Kat staring at Xephryes with a look of suspicion, while X glared at the small girl.

I saw Kat jot something down in her journal.

I've just learned something about one of my own citizens... and I'm not sure how I should feel about it.

Kat's Journal Entry #65

Xephryes... 

I don't trust him.

He is not loyal.

He chose a side.

But it is not our side.

I will watch him.

I can't trust him.

Watch him, carefully.

Figure out who he is.

I'll make sure he acknowledges me and drops that poker face.

I will not make him my downfall.

Creation 12... I hope nobody uses her as a tool.

I hope nobody uses me as a tool.
