Chapter 24: Ravager Attack

Damian's POV

It's been a stressful week since we found Tristan's body.

Everyone was uneasy.

Max was going around, swearing revenge in whoever dared to kill his best friend.

Ember was in shock that the country he was working on already had a possible traitor.

Kat and X were usually avoiding or arguing with each other.

It was kind of... sad, I guess.

I was hoping that it was all over.

Maybe it's the Terrayite Kingdom... maybe they killed Tristan.

I held firmly onto that belief.

Because I wasn't sure what I would do if I found out that one of my friends did it.

But after Riko, I'm the next suspect.

I didn't think that was fair at all.

Just because the Overseer is her father... doesn't mean she's like him!

I turned around to see that the wall had cracks in it.

What is going on? I thought as I backed away with fear.

And not a moment too soon, because the moment, I got far enough to not get crushed, whatever was trying to knock down the wall caused it to fall in pieces.

The giant gray beast turned around and my blood turned cold.

A RAVAGER!!!

I stared at it in fear, unable to move.

How is it here? And why only a Ravager? Where is the Pillager army?

The Ravager stared at me, before charging.

I stood still, unable to move.

Time seemed to slow down.

Did time really slow down? Or is it just a figment of my imagination.

Is it so I can stare at the horror of the monster that's going to end my life?

Is it so I can watch my demise come to kill me so clearly?

Why does time seem to slow down when something bad is going to happen?

Is it a higher power messing with us?

Or just our imagination?

As the Ravager got closer, I closed my eyes, accepting my fate.

Then I felt something hit me.
