Chapter 71: This is Getting Dumb

Abigail's POV

After a week with traveling with Stella, I had to admit that she was okay.

She was easily excited but was very serious if she had to be.

"Any luck?" She asked.

I shook my head. "No sign of him," I replied. 

"This is getting dumb," she grumbled. "No sign of him for a week."

I stayed silent as we continued walking through the forest. 

"Anyways," I said. "I wonder what Lance's connection to the Ender Watchers is?"

Stella shrugged. "Not sure," she said. "Ceris never told me."

To my surprise, I heard resentment in her voice when she said that.

"Maybe he's your father," I suggested.

My companion gave me a disgusted look. "I'd kill myself if he was my father," she said. "Besides, I highly doubt it. I mean, what kind of dad would call his daughter sexy as if he was flirting with her?"

"One that's not exactly in the right mind," I replied.

"Anyways, I already have one bitchy parent," Stella continued. "I don't need another one."

"Well, you turned out alright," I admitted. "Better than me."

"You're pretty good yourself," she told me, giving me a small smile.

I said nothing, my mind spinning with confusion.

Right at that moment, a man with a monocle and a top hat walked up. "Hello," he greeted in the most absurd British accent ever. "My name is Conflict, and I'm here to make everyone's lives miserable."

"Too late," Stella said blankly. 

Fuck!

The three of us looked up.

I didn't mean to make you a fucking character, you dick!

"Noo! Dear God, please!" Conflict begged in that stupid accent.

And then, Conflict evaporated.

The two of us just stared at what happened for like an hour or so.

"You're right," I said, breaking the silence. "This is getting dumb."

I did drop a hint of who Lance is.

No, he is not Stella's father, dear lord, we don't need to torture her that much.

However, he is the father of a character you may or may not remember...
