Much to my surprise, Stella sent me a letter of apology for her rash decision and welcomed me back to the End, saying I can rule it if I wanted to.
I sent her a letter back, explaining that I was thankful but she was the one to rule the End.
And I wanted her to rule the End too.
Besides, I have to be committed to the Frostbourne.
However, something was bothering me.
I just remembered... The Overseer Syndicate... they've been quiet... but when will they attack? And who will they attack first?
For the first time since Ember ditched us, I felt concern for his well being.
But also for our friends who fell into corruption.
Moonlark? I thought. Don't let the Overseer kill Ember... no matter how much I hate him, don't let the Overseer take him.
I didn't expect an answer.
It's not your decision, but I'll leave him be... but I'd watch your back if I were you.
What does that mean? Watch my back? Is somebody going to stab me in the back?
Silence.
I swore under my breath, why must she be so complicated?
