Chapter 104: I'm Willing to Take That Risk

Damian's POV

She's beautiful and mesmerizing. 

I watched completely in a daze as Hannah walked around, checking on a willow tree, smiling and humming to herself quietly.

My face turned red as I blushed furiously.

"Damian?" Hannah asked, noticing me there.

I jumped. "H-Hannah!" I sputtered.

Wow, real smooth Damian.

Hannah smiled at me. "How long have you been here?" She asked.

An hour. I thought.

"Like five minutes," I said. "I didn't want to distract you from..."

"It's okay," the dryad said, beckoning me to sit next to her under the tree.

We sat there in silence for a while.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Hannah asked, gesturing to the willow tree.

I nodded, breathing the scent of sage. "It is," I replied. "But not as beautiful as you are."

Hannah blushed. "W-what?" She asked.

"I love you," I told her, softly. "But I'm afraid."

"Afraid?" She asked.

Well, Damian, you have to say it now. 

"I've had some history with girls," I admitted. "And none of them had a happy ending. I'm afraid that if I dated you, you... you would die. I don't want to take another life, but I've already lost two girls."

Amaya and Riko.

"I want you to live a happy life," I told her. "And if that happiness is keeping you away from me, I'll do it. I love you Hannah, and I want to protect you. And... this is the best way to keep you safe from the risk of me hurting you."

"Damian..." Hannah whispered.

I turned away, not wanting to meet her in the eyes.

A moment later, I felt a light kiss on my cheek.

I turned back to look at her. 

Hannah was smiling, blushing.

Actually, so was I.

"I'm willing to take that risk," she told me.

We both smiled, and then passionately leaned in and kissed each other.

We stayed that way for a long time.

Moonlark: That was so awkward to write. But now Damian has a girlfriend! His third one! Don't worry, we won't be breaking his heart anymore.
