Emma never had a fear of heights but when she looked down, past the clouds, she thought she might've just developed one.

"First beanstalk?" Killian asked as he looked down at her. "Well, you never forget your first."

"I'm trying to concentrate," Emma said, as she continued climbing. "Right, well can I ask you a question?" he asked.

"I have a feeling you're going to ask anyway," she said.

"How is she?" Killian asked.

"Who? Katherine?"

Killian looked at her and nodded, any playfulness gone from his eyes as he wanted a serious answer.

"She's fine. I mean, she misses you. She was ready to let her own mother die because she thought you were dead" Emma said.

"Why would she think I'm dead?" he asked.

"Regina told us this land had been...erased after the curse. Everyone in Storybrooke probably thinks we're in an empty void or something" she said.

Thinking of Katherine, heartbroken thinking he was dead, only made him climb faster. "Hold on!" Emma said as she struggled to keep up.

"You must really love her if you were willing to work with Cora," she said. "Of course I do. I'd do anything for her. Even climb a beanstalk with you to find a magic compass and face a giant" he said.

"Right. And how long you two been together?" she asked.

"Well, technically 30 years. But the bloody curse took 28 of them."

It was dark by the time the two made it to the top. The giant's castle was huge. Literally. Everything around them was so large it made them feel like ants.

They looked around, seeing the devastation that had been done to the place. Bones and skeletons lay around next to empty and rusted armor.

"What happened here?" Emma asked.

"It's where the final battle was," he said, looking around. "Here's the plan. We wait for the giant to fall asleep. When he does, we'll sneak past him into his cave. That's where the treasures are. Where the compass lies. And then we run like hell."

"I don't have time to wait for a giant to fall asleep. The powder Mulan gave us, we need to use it. We've got to knock him out" she said.

"That's risker," he said.

"Then waiting for a giant to fall asleep when we need him to?" she asked.

"Point taken," he said, as they got their plan together. Emma would climb on top of one of the large statues to be at eye level with the giant. Killian would be the distraction.
