"God, this thing has like, zero regulations," Katherine said as the elevator brought them to a shaky halt.

"Bloody hell. You all right, love?" Killian asked.

"Yeah, fine," she said, as he pulled the lift door open. They looked out as the space in front of them only led down one dark tunnel.

As they came out the other side of the tunnel. There was a large door with a scale, sitting on a table in front of it. Something was carved into the side of the table, but it was in a language Katherine had never seen before.

"Great. Some ancient language no one knows how to freaking read" she sighed.

"Only a heart filled with true love can pass" Killian read as Katherine looked at him surprised.

"Well aren't you full of surprises" she smirked.

"You'd be suprised what they teach you in the Royal Navy," he said.

"Did they teach what the hell that's supposed to mean?" she asked.

"It's the test. I have to weigh my heart to see if the way I love you is true" he told her.

"Are you serious?" she asked, her voice soft and quiet.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"You really think that we...this is true love?" she asked.

"You don't think it is?" he asked.

"No, I do. But you know that true love is the rarest magic of all. And if the consequences of this is death-"

"Katherine. You put your life on the line for me, numerous times. Let me do the same for you" he said.

Nodding she watched as he pulled his heart from the bag and placed it on the scale. They both looked around as they waited for something to happen. But nothing did.

"I don't get it," Killian said, shaking his head.

"It's okay. We-" Katherine was cut off as Killian gasped in pain and clutched his chest.

"Killian, what's wrong?" she asked, grabbing onto him as he dropped to the floor.

"The pedestal. I need to get my heart off" he groaned.

Katherine reached over to grab his heart but shouted in pain as flames overtook her whole body.

"Katherine!" Killian shouted, stumbling back from the heat of the flames.

"Grab your heart!" she told him. Killian groaned, clutching his chest as he felt like he was going to explode from the pressure.

But the pain was nothing as he looked over at Katherine who was moments away from being burned alive.

Deciding his heart could wait, he pushed through the flames, knocking Katherine to the floor as she fell on top of him.

"Ow" Katherine mumbled as they lay there, out of breath.
