"Robby... I-I hear footsteps..." Preston whispered, clutching tight to his boyfriend's arm. It was the middle of the night after all, and Preston wasn't about to be captured by Outsiders. "Shh... It'll be okay..." Rob replied, pulling Preston closer and kissing the top of his head lightly. Soon, the footsteps stopped, and there was a knock on the door. A knock the Preston and Rob knew too well, and the one that caused Preston's nerves to die down. On the other side of the door was his other two best friends, Lachlan and Vikk, and Lachlan's younger brother Mitchell.

Both Rob and Preston stood to get the door, not wanting the other three to be outside in the cold darkness much longer. They quickly pulled the others inside, then shut, locked, and blocked the door behind them. Rob was super cautious making sure no one could find them, and that his best friends didn't get hurt.

"Where the hell were you guys?! You had us worried sick!" Rob exclaimed, hugging all three boys individually. "Sorry," Lachlan said, sarcasm already clear. "Mitchell decided he wanted to run away and get himself killed." Mitchell rolled his eyes and huffed over to where his makeshift bed was, not wanting to fight his brother and his friends more than he already had.

Rob looked sadly at Mitchell, then sighed. "Poor kid... I can't imagine how hard this is on him." Lachlan sighed as well. "I love him, of course, but the least he could do is try not to get himself shot by the Outsiders." Vikk reached up and set a hand on Lachlan's shoulder. "We'll all be okay soon, Lachy." Lachlan nodded sadly. "I hope so..." "Me... Me too." Preston yawned, cuddling up into Rob's side. "Let's all go to bed then... It's late, we all need sleep." Rob suggested, holding Preston closer to him. Vikk agreed and said goodnight, then walked over to his small bed. Preston and Rob smiled a little at Lachlan, before whispering their goodnight and heading to their corner of the room. Rob laid down and pulled Preston close, kissing the top of his head. "I love you, Robby." Preston mumbled, laying his head on Rob's chest. "I love you too, Preston."

Lachlan watched the couple for a moment before sighing and taking his place between Mitchell and Vikk. All Lachlan wanted was a love like Preston and Rob's, one that would keep him fighting through the hard times of this war. And he wanted it with the small Brit beside him. Since the war had begun, him and Vikk had grown closer than they already were, and Lachlan had developed a crush on his best friend. Maybe even more.

All five boys fell asleep fairly quickly, and woke up to the sun streaming trough their broken window. Rob was first to wake up, and Vikk followed not long after. Both sat up and started talking to each other, and eventually the topic of conversation travelled to Mitchell. Vikk looked over to where the boy slept, and suddenly, his heart almost stopped. "Rob, he's gone." Vikk said, barely above a whisper. That caught Rob's attention. "M-Mitchell?" Rob asked, even though it only took once glance for him to answer his own question. Vikk weakly nodded, staring off at where the young Aussie once slept.

"We gotta find him." Rob decided, standing up and looking outside. "Lachlan's gonna flip... Oh dear God..." Vikk whispered, afraid of Lachlan's reaction. "We've gotta find him before an Outsider does, wake up Lachlan, Vikk." Rob turned and gently shook Preston awake. By the time Rob had Preston filled in, Vikk's nerves had paralyzed him, and Lachlan was still peacefully asleep. "Vikk," Preston stepped forward, resting a hand on the smaller's shoulder. "He's not gonna yell at you, he's not gonna hate you. This wasn't your fault." He said softly, as if he could read Vikk's mind. "Here, I'll get him..." Rob stepped forward, kneeling down beside Lachlan. He repeatedly poked Lachlan in thee shoulder and ribs until he woke up. "The hell, mate?" Lachlan groaned, sitting up and leaning against the wall. "Lach... There's no easy way to say this..." Preston started, biting his lip. Lachlan knew what the meant. Bad things. "What happened?" Lachlan noticeably paled. "Mitchell left." Vikk blurted out. "We woke up this morning and he was gone." Lachlan had a blank expression, until he jumped up and pushed past the other guys. "I'm going out." He said simply. They all knew that meant he was going to look for Mitchell. "I'm coming with you." Vikk said immediately. "We'll help too." Preston volunteered as he took Rob's hand. "No." Lachlan shook his head. "He's my brother. My mess. I'll take care of him." Lachlan said, unlocking the door and opening it. Vikk reached out and grabbed Lachlan's wrist. "No, Lachlan. He's our brother too. At least let me help." Vikk pleaded, not wanting his best friend out there by himself. Vikk could barely pull through his sister's death, and the only reason he did was thanks to Lachlan. If something were to happen to him, Vikk didn't think he'd be able to handle himself.
