Finishing the meal preparations Mikage shared the completed food amongst the set of dishes. He sorted out the food on a tray and gave it to Nobu. Nobu appeared surprised as if didn't expect to be given anything.

Mikage picked up on his expression "what, do you think cooperative behaviour goes unappreciated? Don't think too much just eat".

Nobu fixed his expression, 'he'd just been read, was he that obvious?'. Not thinking further into it Nobu took the food and set it down on a lower table in the next room and dug in.

Following after him was Mikage bringing each of the pots he used, going back and forth placing them all on the table. Sitting opposite each-other the two created an odd scene the larger and more built up person had a noticeably less amount of food compared to the smaller person.

Nobu tried his best to ignore the gluttony Mikage presented. He even half doubted he himself would have the capacity to finish so much food all at once much less the 'little Bishounen'. However, he was left completely shocked as not even three moments later the dishes were completely empty.

'Was this even normal?' To eat something so quickly in short amount of time. Nobu doubted the boy even chewed at that pace.

"Haah...." Mikage let out a satisfied sigh.

Nobu stared at the youth instead of shock he had amusement on his face. Mikage noticed his look "Now that I think about it your portion looks tempting" Mikage said, seriously contemplating about taking Nobu's food.

Nobu flinched at the remark 'of course he would say that'.

"How rude, a man of my stature has to eat" Mikage spoke.

'How?' Nobu was taken aback.

"it's way too obvious to tell what you're thinking, is it along the lines of 'how does he know? or is he reading me?' you are not as good as your boss at hiding your expression" Mikage said plainly leaning his head against his hand.

Nobu was speechless he was in silent thought. Not paying attention Mikage's eyes shifted slightly and without warning, he stretched across the table and stole one of Nobu's dishes.

"Don't say I didn't warn you" Mikage spoke mercilessly

Nobu had no words, he saw the youth down his bowl in one short breath, Mikage looked back up at Nobu's food as if he were an animal stalking its prey.

Nobu's instincts told him this wasn't a joke and spared no haste in shovelling the food into his mouth, carefully guarding his food with his arm.

Mikage smiled joyfully "taste good doesn't it?"

Good? It was literally the best food he'd tasted in all his life. As if all the spices were combined in perfect synchronisation, he blindly ate the food without to think straight. The flavours combined created an undefinable delight spreading throughout his mouth. Not only did it cause his mouth a bout of life fulfilment, instantly his body felt a replenished and refreshed feeling.

"Delicious" he stated simply.

*****

From then Nobu's attitude had completely reversed he enthusiastically helped Mikage, abandoning all of his previous hidden intentions. In the end, trust was created between the two.

To put it simply it was like the phrase 'to win over a man's respect is through his stomach'; at least in this case, it was.

He carried out useful favours, such as volunteering to help cut the vegetables, arranging a harness for Mikage's sword and other minor things. Of course, he was awarded with food for his many efforts. This continued on until midpart through the third day Ryuu had left.

When Mikage asked Nobu a question.

"Nobu what is my father's status?" Mikage was sitting on the floor, his back was turned to Nobu, carefully attending to his plants cutting off the dead parts, placing them aside for later use.

Nobu had just returned from retrieving the water for the young man, he looked at the young man's back with a pondering expression he half expected him to ask sooner or later of this matter. He was already made aware of the details of his case. His pondering wasn't for him to bend the truth or such but rather how to relay it.

'Out of consideration, perhaps?'.

"He's still missin', not a trace they could track. Some sources say he wasn't seen during the incident." In the end, he spoke his mind, he continued. "At this point, I think your father is no lo..."

"He's alive" Mikage interrupted not allowing him to finish his sentence.

Nobu shut his mouth, he couldn't help but speak his mind. But when the young man said that he couldn't help but doubt himself. The young man spoke with such confidence, not false hope from desperation, but extreme sureness as if he knew. Which made Nobu waver once again. Nobu couldn't help but see the bosses unwavering confidence in him.

Nobu was right Mikage did indeed know, from a logical point of view he knew his father probably more than he knew himself. And his father wasn't caught up in anything dangerous to the point someone wanted him dead. Furthermore, as if he had an invisible bond he could subconsciously sense that he was still in this world. Although Mikage didn't fully understand it he knew it was something to do with his abilities.

"Sorry, I said too much" Nobu acknowledged.

Currently, their relationship was quite hard to put into words as it was born of trust. Nobu couldn't quite describe it, but he instinctively had faith in this person. As if some greater force compelled him to do so. A force he previously tried to reject however he subconsciously surrendered to; more accurately you could say his stomach did.

Nobu was able to overlook the feebleness the young man carried, it didn't bother him so much now. His personality made up for such. He found the young man to be insightful and wise despite his young age his views somewhat interestingly similar to his.

Eventually becoming comfortable enough to reveal his true personality which he didn't reveal around many. So, his previous somewhat professional and calculating behaviour soon began to slip.

"No, you didn't." Mikage disagreed. "continue to speak your mind whenever I prefer you that way" he added.

"Got it," he said tapping the younger mans back in comfort. "How 'bout we go gamblin'?" he said changing the subject. He actually had been thinking about it for a while, as soon as he found how talented Mikage was at seeing through his thoughts, 'such a useful advantage' he thought obviously corrupted.

Mikage sniggered, "still so obvious, fine I'm in" he agreed, after all, staying holed up in a home was extremely boring and no one in their right mind would stay.

"I forgot to mention there are a few conditions boss spoke about for you to go out" Nobu revealed.

"Go on" Mikage sighed accepting the forthcoming.
