It was night and the ball was already being a success and barely was starting. They invited the entire town for the ball and special invites to the most important families.

Once Alaric found Elijah without anyone, he walked over to him.

"Elijah."

"Good evening, Mr. Saltzman." Elijah nodded.

"Yeah, you too. Here's the thing. I don't really trust your mother. I also didn't trust you at first but since you've been together with Elena, I've realized you are not completely awful and that you do not have second intentions with her. If you did, I'd already be hunting you. Don't ever forget that. Anyway, I want you to make sure nothing bad happens to Elena. And you can't tell her about this conversation because she then feels I don't trust her to take care of herself which it's not true. I simply worry and..."

"Don't worry, Mr. Saltzman. I'll die before I let anything happen to Elena."

"Wow! Alaric Saltzman and Elijah Mikaelson talking without threats. I would say I'm surprised but I knew you would eventually get along." Elena said, smiling to two of the most important men in her life.

*Meanwhile*

Kol was asking April about all the things he taught her in self defense and in using guns or stakes.

"Kol, I know how to defend myself." April sighed. "And I might have brought a wooden stake, in case things went sideways."

"What? Where?" Kol whispered because April didn't even brought a small purse, so she rolled her eyes and show that her dress, that was open on the side, had a hidden wooden stake attached to her tight, making Kol whisper to himself. "After this I really need a cold shower."

"What?"

"You're incredibly beautiful and smart." Kol said, making April smile and kiss him softly.

*Meanwhile*

Klaus was starting to feel his wolf side taking over, which made him ran to the nearest bathroom and take a few deep breaths to calm down.

"Nik, are you okay?" Caroline asked, following him to the bathroom.

"You should go." Klaus whispered, facing the wall so Caroline wouldn't see he was with his hybrid face on.

"I'm not leaving you alone when you're clearly not okay."

"Go!" Klaus growled, turning to face her, expecting her to turn around and run away scared but she didn't move, she didn't show any fear, making him whisper more calmly. "I feel the wolf taking over. And I don't want to hurt you..."

"Hey, I know you won't hurt me. Maybe it's because things haven't been very calm and your wolf side wants to go run around in the woods to forget about that but we need you here now. I need you here." Caroline whispered, cupping his cheeks. "I know how easy it is to let ourselves be overwhelmed by our instincts." Caroline showed her vampire face, while he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer to him. "But we can go through whatever might comes our way if we stick together. Our love is stronger."

*Meanwhile*

Esther was in her bedroom trying to make a spell but it wasn't working and she couldn't understand so she made another spell to see what was stopping her from completing her first spell and that when she figured out.

"He is being balanced. But how? No one was ever able to balance with his wolf side. And I know he never mated with anyone." Esther whispered to herself but then she realized something. "No... it can't be. She can't be his one true mate. She's a vampire."

*Meanwhile*

Stefan was looking all over the room, making sure no one was trying to hurt Rebekah.

"Stefan, this place is full of people. Nothing will happen to me."

"What if they are compelled? I'm not taking any risks." Stefan whispered. "And I still don't trust your mother."

"Don't worry." Rebekah whispered, then took him to the office that was soundproof, like most rooms of the mansion. "Do you remember the gift Nik gave me on that amazing surprise birthday party you planned with our friends?" Rebekah asked and he nodded, then she showed him there was a secret pocket inside her dress where she had her dagger. "See? I can take care of myself."

"I know that but I can't stop worry about you. I finally got the chance to be your boyfriend and..." Stefan whispered and Rebekah cut him off by kissing him.

"My mother won't do anything when everyone is around."

"Great! Now I'm worried when you'll be alone." Stefan said, making Rebekah chuckle and kiss him.

Everyone was in the ball room and Esther clinked on her drink to make everyone look up at her.

"Good evening! Tonight my family got the chance to reunite once again. We appreciate all of you to come to our celebration. Please, find now someone to dance with and let's get this party started." Esther said and the music started to play, making everyone start to dance.

Esther used this distraction to go to her bedroom with Bonnie Bennett.

"Mrs. Mikaelson, May I know what was the reason to request my company?" Bonnie asked while Esther started to sound proofing the room.

"I wish my family to be together as one. I know they got attached to your friends and I know I will only get their trust when your friends will trust me. I need you to help me get their trust back."

"And why do you ask me for help?"

"Because you're a witch and they are always assuming every witch has something against them but you prove them wrong. I want to have my family together again. That's all I wish. And I want to know everything about their friendships and relationships. I want to know who they trust and why they for the first time saw people who they didn't share blood with as their own family." Esther said.

"I was thinking you needed help with a spell because of all these ingredients."

"I also would appreciate you to help me with this one spell. You're very perspective."

"What's this spell for?"

"I want to link them all together."

"For that won't they need a doppelgänger's blood. There's no more blood since Elena become a vampire and she's the last doppelgänger."

"I found a bit of her blood. Klaus might be save it to make more hybrids." Esther sighed and then she heard Bonnie's phone buzzing.

"Sorry. It's Damon. I promised him a dance. I'll just text him to wait for the next song." Bonnie smiled and texted that, but also telling him to warn the Mikaelsons that Esther planned on linking them.

Bonnie was back to the ballroom and all the Mikaelsons were aware that once they drink their champagne, they would be linked but they knew they had to do it to make it seem they were starting to get their guard down and to let Esther think they trust her.

"Let's cheer to this amazing small town that has so many incredible people that I had the pleasure to meet. Thank you for being such welcoming neighbors. To family!" Esther cheered and drank the champagne, smiling when saw her children drinking the champagne with Elena's blood.

Once she got in the middle of the crowd, Esther texted two people and said 'The plan is going successfully. They are now linked'
