Y/N - your name

He stared at the barrel of my gun as he fell to his knees. "You don't have to do this." Trent begged me as I shook my head. Tears stung my eyes as I breathed in a sharp breath. I aimed at the center of his forehead. "I wish that were true." I said as he closed his eyes.

"Good morning Y/N." My boss, Andrew, said as I nodded my head towards him. "Good morning. What's on the agenda for today?" I asked as he smiled down at me. "Come to my office. I have a very important mission for you." He said as I nodded but fear iced through my veins.

I walked into his office and sat on his leather chair. "I need you to perform a hit for me." He said bluntly as I nodded. "Well Andrew, that is my job after all." I said with a slight chuckle. "This one is different. You can't just kill him. You need to pretend to me in a relationship with him." He said as I scoffed and crossed my arms. "What makes this bloke so special?" I asked, my Liverpool accent prominent.

"It's you're best friend from school, Trent Alexander Arnold." My eyes bulged out at the name. "What? Why him?" I asked as I felt sweat drop down my brow. "I have been asked by a specific person to kill him but obviously it's not my job to do the killing, I just make sure someone does it for me." He said as I shook my head. "Andrew, him and I go way back." "Exactly! That's what makes this hit so great and easy!" He shouted as I looked down.

Myself and Trent were great friends back in primary school and all the way through high school. He was always there for me whilst I was always there for him. I never missed one of his academy football matches whilst he never missed one of my boxing matches. But one day, that all fell away as his career became more important and we just drifted.

"Y/N, you know if you can't do this, I will have to..." he trailed off as he nodded towards his desk draw which I knew contained a gun. I sighed as I nodded, "I'm in. How much for the hit?" "Considering it will take awhile, £100 000." He said as I nodded. "I'll start today." I said as he gave me a big smile. "That's my girl." He said as I nodded and walked out the door without another word.

I sat in the cafe as I waited for Trent to come in for his daily afternoon coffee. It has been 2 weeks since the meeting with Andrew and I've done some research on Trent. I knew almost everything in his life, including where he lives. I look up from my book and see him walk through the door. I was shocked to see how much he has grown but how his face was still the face I fell in love with back in high school.

As much as we were friends, I fell for the kid way too easily but never told him as I didn't want to ruin our friendship as cliché as that sounds. I stand up and stand behind him to order a coffee. He orders his coffee and is handed it in a matter of minutes and he turns around. I purposely knock into him, spilling his coffee on the floor. "I am so sorry!" I exclaim. "Don't wo- Y/N?" He questioned as I looked at him in shock. "Trent?"

"Oh my god! It has been years!" He shouted as he engulfed me in a tight hug. I smiled at his touch as I nodded. "100%. I'm sorry about your coffee. Let me buy you another one. Maybe we can chat?" I questioned as he nodded with a huge smile on his face. "But don't worry about paying. That's my duty." He said as I smiled and nodded as we ordered our coffees.

I was sat tapping my foot nervously as I waited for a knock on my door. I jumped as my phone started ringing. I look down and roll my eyes as I see Andrews number, "Hey." "Hey Y/N! How is it going?" He asked as I sighed. "Great. I'm going on a date with him now." "Perfect! You're fantastic at your job. Enjoy and don't have too much fun." "Haha, I won't." I said as I ended the call.

I heard a knock at the door as I opened to see a nervous Trent holding a bouquet of roses. "I remember you loved roses back in high school." He said as I smiled at him, "And I still do. You're so sweet." I said as I kissed his cheek and grabbed the flowers and put them in a vase. "Let's go." He said as he grabbed my hand once I had locked my apartment. We drove to a fancy restaurant close to my apartment and parked just outside.

We walked in and sat down at the back of the restaurant once Trent stated he had a reservation. "Thank you for coming tonight." He said as I smile gently at him. "How can I say no to you?" I said as he grabbed my hand from across the table. "I've missed you Y/N." he said as I felt a wave of guilt knock me down and trap me underwater. "I've missed you too. A lot." I said as I gave his hand a squeeze.

Trent stopped the car outside of my apartment as I looked at him. "Thank you for tonight Trent. It was great seeing you again and being able to spend time with you." I said as he smiled, his teeth shining even in the dark. "I really enjoyed tonight. Again soon?" He questioned as I nodded with a smile on my lips. "I'll see you soon." I said as I went to open the door. I felt Trent grab my wrist as he pulled me close to him and placed his lips on mine.

I melted into the kiss as I felt butterflies appear in my stomach as I deepened the kiss by biting his lip. I pulled away as I started into his chocolate eyes. "I've been waiting for that since high school." I said as he chuckled, "Me too to be honest." He said as we laughed together.

I stood over Trent with the gun pointed at him. His knees making a dent on the living room carpet. "Please Y/N! How can you just throw 9 months down the drain? Did you ever even love me?" He asked as I looked down, feeling the tears stream down my face. "Of course I did Trent." I said as I sniffled. "Trent I have to do this. If I don't, I'm dead." I said as he looked down.

I saw sweat appear above his brow and fall down as he gulped, his Adams apple bobbing up and down. "Fine. But just remember that I never stopped loving you and I will never even in heaven." He said which caused more tears to stream down my face. "Trent-" "Y/N, I love you." He said as I whimpered. "I love you too." I said as I looked into his pleading brown eyes. As much as his eyes were pleading, he knew I couldn't back out.

I went to pull the trigger as I bit my lip. I pressed the trigger as I fired at Trent. A bang ran in the room as I opened my eyes to see a shaking Trent in a ball on the floor. I looked next to him to see the bullet in the floor. He looked at me wide eyed, "I couldn't do it." I said as he looked at me. He stood up and engulfed me in a hug. "Let's run away." He said as I pulled away. "We can't." "Yes we can." "But your career." "You're more important." He said as I cried into his chest.

"Let's run away from this bad man." He said as I nodded.
