Y/N - your name

I look at myself in the mirror as I smile, happy with the way I look in my floral dress that reached just above my knees and white heels. But the way I feel inside it the polar opposite of how I look on the outside. I was happy on the outside whilst on the inside, I was devastated and heartbroken. I turn around and walk to my bed where the wedding invitation sat.

I grab it and open it to read it for the thousandth time. "You have been invited to Jack and Robin's wedding! We would love it if you joined us on our special day and joined us for the beginning of our new journey together. Yours sincerely, Jack and Robin." I read out loud as I shake my head, feeling tears pricking my eyes. "Why did he chose her?" I question to no one except myself.

I have known Jack since I was a little baby. We grew closer plainly because of our parents being best friends, especially our dads. They were inseparable, even when we did move to Germany for 3 years. I was almost forced to be friends with Jack which I didn't mind as he was possibly the nicest person I knew.

After knowing him for basically my whole life, it was hard not to see him in a different light at least once. I first started developing a crush on him when I was 13. He was just starting to grow into his looks which made it difficult for me not to stare at him. I was always trying to shoot my shot but missed every single time because of some new random girl that he was seeing. As soon as that relationship ended in ruins, I gave it time before I wanted to tell him but as I wanted to tell him, he was in a new relationship.

I sigh in frustration at the thought and stand up and walk to the bathroom. I brush my teeth as I stare at my sad complexion. I roll my eyes as the tears threaten to fall. I spit out my toothpaste as I rinse my mouth and let out a huff as I look at myself once again. "You'll go in there and be happy for them Y/N." I told myself as I straightened my back and smiled.

I walk to my room and grab my matching bag and finally my gift to Jack and Robin, which was a fancy toaster, and walk down to my car. I place the gift on the back seat as I sit in the drivers side and start my car. I double check on my backseat that I have the gift as well as my suitcase as I was going to be staying at the wedding venue for the night as I knew I was gonna get very, very drunk.

Within an hour, I'm at the reception as I see all the people standing outside the church. I get out the car and grab the gift  as I walk to my friend, Gemma, as she gave me a smile. "You look stunning Y/N." she said as I gave her a soft smile. "You too Gem. Purple really suites you." I said as she gave me a smile. "What did you get the love birds?" She asked as she stared down at the present I was holding. "A toaster." I said as she giggled. She pointed at the gift pile just outside the reception door that was opposite the church, "Me too." She sad as I chuckled. "Great minds think alike." I said as I walked to place my gift down.

"Pst." I heard to my right as I looked up at a nervous Jack. "Hey, what are you doing out?" I asked as he shook his head. "Please come with me." He said as I nodded and followed him to a guest house right by the church. "Nice room. Is this the honey moon room?" I asked as he nodded. I smiled at I admired the silk bed sheets and the roses that already covered the bed.

I looked back at Jack to see him pacing the room. I couldn't help but admire him in his black suite and black tie. "What's up?" I asked as I walked towards him and grabbed his hands. He stopped as he looked at me. "I'm not sure if I'm ready for marriage." He said as my eyes popped out of my head. "Why would you say that?" "I'm not sure it's just... what happens if I'm not a good husband? I mean, she'll be demanding kids soon as well." He panicked as I shook my head. "Calm down Jack. Either way you're gonna be a fantastic husband and father one day." I said as he gave me a small smile.

"Now calm down, and let's go get you married shall we." I said as I faked a smile. "I'm not stupid Y/N. I can see when you're faking a smile." He said as I felt my heart drop. That was the negative thing about knowing someone for many years, they knew you inside out. "I'm fine Jack." "No you're not. Tell me." "I'm really okay-" "Tell me!" He shouted as I flinched.

I sighed as I looked down. "Jack, I've been in love with you since I was 12. I've tried telling you but you just never gave me the time and freedom too. You were always with someone." I said as I looked down, angry at myself that I said everything I did. "I'm sorry Y/N but this wasn't the greatest of times to tell me." He said as I scoffed.

"Did I ever even stand a chance?" I asked as I back away from him and stare at him. His hair gelled back except a single stand of hair. His eyebrows softened as he looked at me, "That's the sad part... you did once." I heard behind Jack as I stared at Robin. She was stood with a small smile in her mermaid wedding dress. "Robin it's-" "I'm not blind Jack. I see the way you stare at Y/N." she said as I looked down. I felt beyond guilty as I looked up, ready to apologize until she cut me off. "I refuse to stand between you two. I love you Jack but you love Y/N more and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that." She sad as she pulled the engagement ring off of her finger.

She placed it in Jacks hand as he looked down. "I'm sorry." He said as I stared at them. "Don't be sorry. I just loved the wrong person." She said as she smiled at me. "Look after him." She said to me as I nodded. "I'm sorry Robin." I said as she shook her head. "Go marry each other already. I promise I'm not mad. I'll be mad tho if I'm not the maid of honor." She joked as I chuckled.

Jack looked at me as I smiled softly at him. Robin stood at the back, smiling like a toddler who just received candy. Jack went down on one knee as I felt tears sting my eyes once again, "Y/N, I've been madly in love with you since I was young. I never said anything fearing I would ruin everything between us but I'm very happy to be kneeling here before you, asking you to marry me." He said as I smiled and asked, "Will you marry me?" I nodded, "Yes." I said as he stood up and placed his lips on mine.
