TW~ Self-harm scars are mentioned

"SWIMMING!" Patton giggled as he ran straight into the lake not even caring at all if he splashed everyone. Roman just stood there off to the side watching as everyone started to pull their shirts off. Virgil gave the demon this look as Roman sighed and gestured to his arms with this sad look making Virgil's eyes widen in realization.

"I don't think anyone's going to care Roman."

"They might not... but I do." Roman whispered as he stared at the lake in awe. He didn't think something so... natural could be so beautiful but then again his entire existence as a demon had been about finding bliss in gore only to wind up in a pitch-black nothingness. This was the first time he could truly bask in awe over the world with a caring gaze. "It's so pretty."

"Yeah... but half the enjoyment is when you're in the water... not just staring at it." Roman laughed as he watched Patton splash around with glee, the light reflecting over the surface of the water making everything glow. "Are you sure you don't want to? I'll repeat no one is going to care." Roman sighed as just stared at his arm again, the scars peeking through the sleeve. "They aren't yours anyway. They're Ash's. Right?"

"Right." Roman took a deep breath as he smiled and nodded. "Ok. Yeah. You're right about that. And I do want to know what it feels like." Roman hesitated only slightly before slipping the shirt up over his head. The air seemed to go silent as Roman handed it over to Virgil, who held a proud smile.  "A swim sounds nice."

"Uh-..." Logan started the second he spotted all the scars that lined up Roman's arm only to grunt at the hard elbow Remus sent into his gut. Janus shot him this look that clearly stated NOT to bring it up.

"Come on, Ro!" Virgil laughed as he tossed the shirt off to the side and literally dragged the demon to the water.

"Hey, wait!" Roman laughed as he slipped and fell right into the water making him gasp and choke all while Virgil just stood there laughing at him. "I said wait!"

"It's not like I pushed you." Roman shot his human a playful glare as he suddenly shot up picking him up into his arms as he laughed. "ROMAN, PUT ME DOWN!" Roman giggled as he quirked a brow at him teasingly."

"Is that an order?" Virgil grumbled as he nodded only making Roman playful smirk turned mysterious. "As you wish." Virgil screeched as he suddenly hit the water with a splash making everyone burst out in laughter over the pout Virgil was giving him.

"You are.. terrible."

"You're the one that said to let go. You never said... how." Roman teased only for Fiona to scoff making Roman's face drop.

"Should always choose your words wisely... am I right?" Roman frowned as he looked back to see her slight glare hidden under her smile. That was another jab at him and he knew it. It was obvious that time. Demons were typically known to twist things any way they could to get what they wanted. That's why when one makes a deal with them specifically they had to be ornery about their desire or else they end up surrounded by a bunch of male deer instead of dollar bills. Fiona laughed as she waved herself off. "I mean what else was he going to do, Virgil. You walked right into that one."

"Yeah, I guess I did." Virgil chuckled softly as he slowly got to his feet. He sighed, glancing over to see how Roman dazed out a bit and he frowned. "Ro? You ok?"

"What?" Virgil's frown only grew as Roman forced a smile. "Oh... Right. Of course, I am Virgil. I didn't hurt you right?" Virgil's face fell as he shook his head and Roman smiled more. "I'm glad. Sorry about dropping you. I didn't think-..."

"It's all fun, Ro. It's ok. Come on." Virgil gently took Roman's hand, not for one second missing the way the demon flinched and nearly pulled away, as he gestured further into the water. "Let's just go swim."

"Yeah. Ok."

Fiona stood there leaning against a tree watching as everyone had fun. Her eyes were trained firmly on the demon as her confusion grew. She watched as he swam around and chased after everyone with this bright smile. She didn't understand it.

The scar on Roman's torso was obviously from a gun. That meant the body had been shot. For it to have scared over it meant the demon hadn't just healed it and let it sit OR... or it had happened before he got the body. Most likely the last as she didn't understand why ANY demon wouldn't just heal an injury. That meant the body was dead. Roman was possessing a body, whose soul and consciousness were no longer there and that made no sense at all. Not with what she knew.

Then there was the tattoo. The sigil on his arm that bound him to the body. She highly doubted Roman would have sat still enough for the hunter to have FORCED him to get such a sigil tattooed into his skin.

And then if you added the bond mark on top of it that Roman had given to Virgil... She was at a complete loss. Not only was all this making her confused but no matter what she did Roman never responded to her in the way she expected. All this consent hounding... she thought for sure he would have snapped by now but nothing. She just didn't understand.

Maybe she got the demon...

No... Sure demons can and have changed their appearance by just possessing a new body but she could tell. His energy was cold. It stabbed into her like a million tiny needles of ice going right up under the skin. He was like the hand of death wrapping around her throat.

Even still she couldn't deny that warmth she had felt either. That light that tried to protect her from the chill. It bubbled up around her like a shield. She didn't know what to make of it. She didn't know what to feel. She only knew what experience and of what they had told her.

Romulus was a danger to them all.
