"No." Virgil groaned as he quickly tried to sidestep away from Roman. "Go away."

"Virge, I was just..."

"Don't call me, Virge." Virgil whipped around with this dark look in his eyes making Roman stop short.

"Ok." Virgil just rolled his eyes as he ran a hand down his face in annoyance.

"What is your problem? Whatever happened to giving me space?" Roman's eyes narrowed in confusion as Virgil fixed his back over his shoulder. It was the end of the school day and Virgil honestly just wanted to get home. He knew he had to go shopping but he was truthfully exhausted.

"I was giving you space, Virgil." Virgil couldn't help but laugh as his glare just got worse. Roman shifted his weight slightly as he frowned. "I'm sorry, I'm annoying you."

"If you were sorry, you would have stopped." Roman flinched as he subconsciously clenched his fist in his jean pockets. "Seriously, I've been telling you to leave me alone all fucking day and you just aren't listening. I don't want to be your friend. I don't give a flying fuck about anything you have to say. Leave me the fuck alone or else. At this point it's harassment. Get off my back."

"I-I'm sorry." Virgil slowly came down from his anger as he noticed Roman avoiding his eyes completely. The taller just stood there staring away as he breathed a slight bit faster than normal. "I'll just go then... for now anyway, I'll leave you alone."

"Roman?" Virgil was taken back by how silent the other was as he just walked right out the door. That was... odd. Normally Roman very pushy or vocal. He's energetic and always smiling. At that moment, he wasn't. Roman had just walked away without another word as if all he wanted to do was get as far away as possible. "I knew it. The assholes just trying to play me. I'm not falling for it again."

"Virgil?"

"Jesus fucking christ! What now?!" Virgil whipped around again only to freeze up in horrifying guilt seeing none other than Patton freaking Rivers standing there with an anxious smile. "Oh shit. Uh... I'm sorry?" Patton just laughed softly as Virgil hugged himself feeling his anxiety bubble up. It was bad enough when Derek and Will came to talk to him. Then Roman with all his shit but... Patton? Why is he here? What did he want?

He is literally one of the most popular kids in school. Everyone's friend... He's the only kid in school who's not only openly gay and extremely supportive of himself and others but is just the kindest freaking person alive. Just last weak he came to school wearing a bright blue sundress and heels, with white bows in his hair, all for this one trans kid who was getting shit for wearing a crop top and having pink in his hair. Needless to say, no one gave him or the other guy any more grief over what they wore.

"It's ok, Kiddo. I just uh... I wanted to say hello." Virgil frowned feeling that awkward sense of deja vu. "Hello!"

"Hello." Virgil couldn't help but feel a little guilty. Roman's been trying to do the same thing all day and Virgil's only given him shit for it, yet Patton pops up and suddenly Virgil isn't even angry. Just anxious... always anxious. "Why are you here, Patton?"

"Oh, well I um... I was wondering if maybe we could be friends."

"Not you too." Patton quirked a brow in confusion as Virgil sighed. "I'm sorry it's just... I'm not the kind of person who has 'friends'. Your the second person today who's tried this with me. I don't get it. When did I stop being the most hated person here?"

"When were you ever the most hated?" Virgil just scoffed as he shook his head. "To be honest, kiddo... I'm only here because I ran into someone who said I should try."

"Oh, so that..."

"I didn't finish." Virgil frowned as Patton quickly cut him off as if he could see the pain in Virgil, despite the other not even knowing it was there. "What I meant was... I've been wanting to come and say hi for a while now. I just never worked up the nerve because I thought you wouldn't like me."

"I don't think its physically possible for someone to not like you, Patton." Patton's smile dropped a bit as he just laughed softly.

"Well, I don't that's true. Everyone's entitled to their opinions. The point is, I've been wanting to say hi and stuff but never did. But... I met this nice kid who said I should give it a shot so... here I am." Patton smiled brightly as Virgil quirked a brow at him in thought. "To be honest, I was a bit concerned. He looked really worried about you and a bit upset. I just wanted to help... the both of you, you know. I thought maybe finally doing what I've wanted to do and talking to you might be a good start. So... Hello there, my name is Patton Rivers. I'm 18 and I absolutely love cats... and dogs... and bunnies... pretty much any animal really."

"Virgil Reed, and I don't understand the point in an introduction if we already know each others' names." Patton just giggled as Virgil looked back towards the door, a question swirling about his brain. "Hey, Pat? You said this kid that convinced you to... finally talk to me... he looked worried?"

"Yeah. He looked really worried. Although, as soon as he knew I was there he seemed to go back to 'normal'. I could tell though. My brother Janus does the same thing. He was very upset about something. But when I tried to help him with it he just brought up you..."

"Pat? Did his name happen to be Roman?" Patton frowned as he nodded making Virgil crash a bit. "Roman told you to talk to me?"

"No." Patton sighed as he shook his head. "He didn't say to talk to you. He said he felt like you needed some friends and that I seemed nice enough for you. He said he had been trying but by the sound of things he wasn't getting anywhere so he thought maybe I could try. I didn't mind. Like I said, I've been wanting to for a while now. Guess I just needed that push." Patton paused for a moment noticing Virgil wasn't looking at him at all anymore. "I hope that doesn't upset you. I know it sounds like kind of off but I really do want to be your friend and it's obvious he does to. Please don't be mad."

"I'm... not mad, Patton." Virgil's frown only grew as he fixed his bag over his shoulder again. "But I really need to get going... Thanks... for saying hi, I guess?"

"No problem kiddo!" Patton beamed as Virgil gave him a small wave goodbye. "I'll talk to later then. See ya, Virgil."
