"Ok... Here we go." Roman took a deep breath as he gently pushed the front door of 'his' home open freezing up at the sudden scent that filled the air. It smelt... horrible... rancid... Roman's eyes flashed as he closed the door. He knew that the smell was. The scent of someone broken and upset. He just didn't understand why they would be. "Hello!" He hesitantly called out noticing how the scent fluxed a bit making him groan and cover his nose. "I'm uh... I'm back?"

"Roman?" Thomas peeked into the foyer only to completely crash the second he spotted him.

"Hey, Thomas." Roman jumped in shock the second Thomas threw himself into him. The scent that filled the air slowly but surely started to dim until he could actually breathe and Roman sighed with a soft smile. "I'm back."

"You... You are grounded." Roman laughed slightly though highly confused as Thomas squeezed him tightly. He glanced back to see Remus leaning against the doorway with a very sad look on him too and Roman didn't know what to think.

"I don't understand. Why do you both smell bad?" Remus laughed as Roman just eyed them as if this was some sort of test.

"We 'smell' bad?" Thomas muttered through his hiccups as Roman nodded.

"You smell broken and I don't understand why."

"You left you, idiot." Roman's face fell as Remus just rolled his eyes. "What do you think would happen? You just vanished without even a goodbye. I had to learn from Virgil who was losing his shit mind you."

"You're grounded." Thomas repeated as he pulled away from the other shaking his head. "You grounded to your room until you die."

"Thomas..." Roman tried to find something to say. But the tears in BOTH of their eyes really shook him. "I..." His eyes darted from Thomas, who was balling, to Remus, who was trying not to let his tears known, before he just crashed with a sad smile. "Demons don't die like normal humans do."

"Even better." Thomas chocked out making this pain spark in Roman's chest. "That means you never leave." Roman's eyes widened as Thomas stared down at him in desperation. "Never again..."

"I..." Roman really didn't understand. "I just... I thought..." Roman shook his head as he took in how broken his family was. "I thought it was better that way."

"Roman, my son vanished." Roman froze stiff as Thomas glared him down. "My son ran off... disappeared without ever saying anything. Forgive me for being upset but as a father... It broke my heart."

"Wait... son?" Roman was in tears before he even realized what had happened. "You... You called me... you..." Thomas sighed as he gently pulled him in letting Roman completely crash. "I don't understand."

"I know that. I'm sorry." Thomas smiled sadly as he ran his hands through the demon's hair. "Just please, Ro... You mean so much to me. You and Remus both... You two are my children and I'd do anything to make sure you're safe and happy."

"But... But I'm... I'm Romulus. I..."

"Roman, stop." Thomas started only for Roman to shove him away with this horrified look in his eyes. "Roman?"

"You don't understand." Roman stepped back as he shook his head, tears streaming from his face. "You don't understand what I did."

"Roman, I know what you've done in the past..."

"NOT THE PAST!" The air went cold as Roman just went limp standing there with such pain and guilt. "I... I didn't have any control. I... I didn't mean to. I couldn't stop myself. You don't know what I did."

"Roman?" Remus slowly moved away from the doorway noticing how the demon's eyes were started to go black. "Roman, it's ok. Trust me when I say we'll try to understand. Just tell us... what happened?"

"I killed people." Remus paled as Roman's words barely left his lips. Thomas didn't move from his spot as Roman slowly met their eyes with this broken expression. "I... um... I don't know what happened. Not really. I just... I remember it. I know what I did but... it's like I was just watching. I couldn't stop myself."

"It's ok, Roman." Remus whispered as he tried to get the other to calm down. "Just... what happened." Roman simply tugged on his shirt not really wanting to say anything about it but knowing he didn't have a choice. "Roman?"

"They were hurting me." Thomas gasped as Roman looked away, lifting the shirt just enough to show at least one of the runes. "I let them. Thought they could finally fix this... mess." Roman laughed before just sighing and shaking their head. "They couldn't. It just... It really hurt and... and next thing I knew the chains were off and I..."

"Hey!" Remus suddenly had him in his arms, holding him tightly with this serious look in his eyes. "NEVER apologize for defending yourself."

"But it wasn't defense. I mutilated them. Went full on Romulus... tore them apart." Remus simply squeezed him tightly as he shook his head.

"You can't change the fact that you are a demon, Roman. A demon of insanity... It IS defense because you were ending the suffering. You said it yourself, you couldn't control yourself."

"I... I can't control myself." Remus's eyes flashed as Roman squeezed him tightly. "It's hard. I don't know what to do."

"I'll help you." Roman smiled as Remus spoke softly. "It's my job to help the good ones after all. I may be a hunter but... I only take out the bad ones. Do you know WHY your control is messed up?"

"Fiona... she um..." Roman choked as he forced himself to take a deep breath. "She said the ritual they were doing was damaging my soul." Remus's eyes shot wide as Roman laughed a bit. "I know right. Apparently, I do have a soul... I didn't want to believe it at first. But she was an angel so... if anyone knew it was her."

"So your soul is breaking?" Roman nodded as Remus finally stepped back giving his father this look as Thomas just shrugged. "I might have to ask Patton and Janus for some help then. Whatever happens... We're going to help you."

"Thank you."

"No problem..." Remus smirked as he lightly punched the other. "Can't let my brother go mental before I get the chance to kill him."

"HEY!" Roman yelled with a smile as Remus burst out laughing.

"Forget it, Demon bitch. I'm not letting it go." Remus giggled as he danced about. "I have to get revenge for Virgil anyway. Do you realize how fucked up he's been?" Roman's eyes instantly went red again as his eyes dropped to his tattoo, with this horrible pain in his chest. "He hasn't even left his home I don- And he's gone."

"ROMAN!" Thomas yelled out only for Remus to stop him and shake his head. "But... He JUST got back."

"Let him go, Dad. This is important."
