TW~ Child Abuse

"Wait... So... what EXACTLY are we looking for again." Remus asked as he, Roman, and Virgil all scowered through the library's expansive boxes.

"Anything having to do a boy and his sister who were abused." Roman replied as he shoved a box back with this distressed look in his eyes. "I don't know. I know it's vague, but it's all I've got."

"You have to be seeing it for a reason." Roman shrugged as he just melted into the chair clearly exhausted. Virgil gently played with his hair as Roman looked up at him with a thankful smile. "Ro, you've been having nightmares every night about the same boy. It has to mean something. It has to be important."

"I know... I just don't know what."

"Well, we could start with what they looked like? Anything could help pinpoint something down." Remus cut in making Roman's eyes narrow as he tried to work through everything. It was hard. Things were jumbled and confusing. Other things were just hazed out or missing. He didn't know how to make sense of it all.

"Uh... Dark skined... The kids anyway. The Father was actually pretty fair. The boy um... He had black hair... I'd say obsidien eye. Dark in color just the whole way through through. He used it often when he was hiding." Remus searched about as Roman leaned back further into Virgil, who was just trying to keep the demon calm. "The girl... Her name was Ava... Ava Payne. She... She looked like her brother."

"And his name." Roman paled as he quickly shook his head.

"I don't know. I don't..."

"Roman!" Roman ducked deep into the hideaway of their attic, clutching close to his little sister who cowered beside him. He pressed his finger to his lips as he wiped Ava tears away with a fearful smile. It was a bad day. His father had come home drunker then ever barely able to stand, but none of that ever mattered when he was pissed. He could be on the verge of passing out and still have enough balance and strength to beat the shit out of his son. "ROMAN! Where the FUCK are you, you piece of shit?" Ava flinched at the sound of glass shattering but Roman just sighed. He knew he was going to have to pick it all up. "ROMAN! AVA!" Roman quickly pulled his sister in the second she started to whimper. They just had wait it out. Just long enough for it all to die down. "GOD DAMN IT!" More glass shattering and Roman couldn't stop himself from flinching at the cry his sister made.

"Shhh, Hermana. Shhh..."*, Sister.*

"Sowey." She whispered as she shook her head and clung tight to her older brothers shirt. "Scawey."

"I know. But... just remember. Tu hermano te tiene." She whimpered softly before there was a sudden thud making her jump and cover her mouth. Such a tiny little girl, just turned 5 and here she was cowering away in a hidey hole. Roman hated that his sister had to go through this. "Te tengo. Te lo prometo, Hermana." Roman held her close as the sounds of destruction raged on. All this... All of this fear and chaos, was just so Roman could sneak away with his sister to get some medicine she needed. *Your brother has you.**I have you. I promise you, Sister.*

"Roman?" Roman jumped, his mind suddenly yanked to the present as he blinked in surprise. "Are you ok?"

"Uh... Yeah. Sorry I dazed there." Roman smiled awkwardly as he turned back to the many boxes in front of him. "Um... They had to be from a long time ago. The boy was feeding his sister sugar water and milk because they didn't have a mother."

"So before the creation of formula... got it." Remus laughed as he skimmed through everything. "If that's the case... it might be before anything news... you know. I wonder..." Remus pushed himself away before running off to grab some books they had off in this restricted area. Or as Remus called it... Hunters for dummies portion of the library. Roman wasn't allowed... not unless he wanted to set off the many MANY alarms and sigils they had guarding the whole area. "Here..." Remus passed a large book to Virgil and Roman both as he took to his own and just skimmed through everything. "If you're seeing it then it has to be demonic related. If that's the case then it would have to be recorded somewhere. Maybe the boy? See if you can find anything."

Roman just nodded as he slowly read through pages. He almost vomited the second he spotted his own name. He quickly bypassed that page as fast as he could. He didn't know how long they had been there just sitting in silence as they read. He was frustrated and annoyed. He just wanted the dreams to stop or... at least to understand them better. He was about to just slam the book shut and storm off... when he spotted a familiar face.

The boy from his dreams... dead... with a demon right beside him.

"Hello, little boy." Roman froze in his tracks as he looked over to see this very tall woman with bright red eyes staring down at him. "Aren't you a bit young to be out here all on your lonesome."

"No." Roman tensed as he looked around to see they were alone. "I just turned 16."

"Oh? Then a young man you are. You must forgive me you see... When it comes to humans you are all but... babes to me." Roman took a step back only for the woman to beam and follow after, a sick smile on her lips. "You smell... rancid. Like death... but... delectible."

"Look lady... I need to get home. My sister is waiting for me-..." Roman didn't even react when she grabbed his arm making him freeze on the spot. He didn't do a thing, but instantly look away showing submission just out of habit.

"Oh, my... What a delightful little treat you'd make?" Roman tried not to let that voice burrow into him as he held himself firm, expecting the worst. "Why don't the two of us make a deal? Hmm?"

"A deal?"

"Oh yes. I can make ANYTHING you want happen and all you have to do... is give me your soul when you die." Roman's eyes shot wide as the woman growled in excitement. "I know there's something. You wouldn't be out here peddling for scraps if there wasn't."

"I just... I was just trying to get food. My sister..."

"There's no judgement here boy. If it's money you should want... I can provide." Roman quickly shook his head as he sighed as  clenched his fists. He didn't have money because he couldn't get a job. He couldn't get a job because his father was ill. It was taking all his time to care for the man and his sister. He just didn't know what to do. "So you don't want money? What about fame? Noteriety... I can make it so you family would never want for anything." None of that would matter. His father was on his death bed. He already lost his mother. He couldn't do it. He couldn't watch his father die. Not if he could do something about it.

"Can you cure my father?" Her eyes flashed as he slowly met her gaze. "He's dying. They don't even know what he has just that he doesn't have long. Him and my sister... they're all I have left. You said you can do anything... can you save him?"

"For your soul, dear boy..." Her grin turned vile as she held her hand out to take. "I would do anything."

"Fine." Roman whispered as he took her hand. "Save my father... and you have a deal."

"With pleasure." She suddenly pulled him forward pressing her lips against his and everything went black.

Roman gasped, the book falling out of his hands and onto the table, as tears started streaming down his face. Virgil was the first to get to him, instantly pulling him into his arms, as the poor demon kept muttering nonsense about a deal.

"Roman? Roman, hun, you need to breathe." Virgil held him close as Roman just cried in a complete panic, everything he dreamed of swirling around in his brain. "Roman!"

"Virgil." Remus cut in as he pointed to the page Roman had been looking at, making Virgil's eyes go wide. "It's the boy." Remus sighed as he ran his finger over this sigil that had been created using the boys blood, the demon women off to the side of where the body had been discovered. "There was demon invoveled."

"Deal... Soul.... Soul deal." Roman whimpered as he shivered endlessly making the other two highly worried.

"It would make since considering the sigil. Usually when a soul is taken they place their mark somewhere around the body." Remus grimaced as he shut the book with a loud thud. "So the boy made a deal with a demon and got capped. That's fucking great..." He groaned in annoyance as he ran a hand through his hair. "I still don't know what that has to do with you."

"Roman?" Roman's eyes darted to Virgil's, who was trying really hard to stay strong for the breaking demon. "Do... Do you know who he is?" Roman crashed completely falling into Virgil's chest as he nodded and just sobbed endlessly. "Who is he?"

"Me."
