(TW~ Homophobia, Abuse, religious commentary from a nonchristian... Although I was raised as one I am not one so IDK how to feel about writing it all.)

At first, Roman really didn't know what he was doing and he knew Ash could tell. Being that he was a demon he didn't know the first thing about 'friends' or how to make a person feel... 'safe'. Ash didn't seem to mind any. He actually smiled a lot throughout the day. Every fumble and mistake Roman made... every awkward moment were Roman didn't understand human culture... Every single moment where Roman simply asked what he wanted to do mattered so much to him. Just asking what he wanted... how he felt... if he was ok was something Ash didn't get.

By the end of the day, the two were just lying there in a park on the grass staring up at the falling sun. Roman's eyes were narrowed in thought as he worked through what he had gone through that day. It wasn't that bad if he was being honest with himself. They didn't do much but hang. they're wasn't much for people to do during that time. Roman did take him to this diner and let him pick whatever he wanted. Ash ended up convincing them to both have this thing called Cream Ice? Roman had definitely made a comment about the name and told them to change the words around lest they all sound like fumbling baboons. Cream Ice... No. It was better called Ice cream then Cream Ice. Whoever named it was moronic.

Needless to say, Roman had found some... pleasure?... in eating it. At least that's what he assumed when Ash giggled over Roman's face when he did so. Ash said his eyes had gotten so wide in shock they looked like saucers. Roman had to admit he laughed at himself too. The sound he made when he ate it well... It was unholy.

Roman enjoyed his time with the kid, despite not understanding the whole friend thing. He found himself... wanting? Hopeful? He didn't know. He knew he was thinking about the future and if he would find himself in the company of someone else who might enjoy a day of respite. Would he like to have the company or... Maybe... Maybe he'd enjoy a 'friend' of his own. If days like this were what friends provided, maybe it wasn't such a nuisance to have. Sure to Roman friends weren't all that important but he did find himself smiling and relaxed. He found himself caring for the boy he hadn't given much thought about at all. When it first started, Ash had asked for a day of fun, happiness, and safety. He asked for a friend to care for him and to not judge him at all. At the end of the day... Roman had given him just that. A friend who would care for him and not judge him for anything... Roman was that friend, even if he wasn't quite sure of it himself.

Unfortunately, the day had come to an end.

"I have to go home now." And Roman was greatly unnerved about it all. Ash smiled sadly as he just stared up at the darkening sky. "My parents are most likely waiting for me."

"Are you sure you're going to be alright?" Ash blinked a bit taken back by the obvious concern in the demons tone. It wasn't often that Roman spoke in such a way. Ash had honestly gotten used to the sassy posh demon rather than the soft one that would pop up here and there. "You don't look to pleased to be returning home. If you would like... the day hasn't quite fallen yet..."

"No. No. It has. The day is gone and I must go home." Roman's eyes darkened seeing the tears building in Ash's eyes. "Roman... I will say that you've definitely held your end of the deal. Today was the best day I've had in a very long time. So thank you."

"Don't thank me, Kid. I was just doing what I had to. I'm a demon. Our deals are more than just a promise." Ash laughed as he pushed himself up and dusted the dirt off his clothes. "Would you like me to at least escort you home?"

"There's no need, Roman. I appreciate it. I do but... I know what to expect when I get there." At those words, Roman felt something... drop in him. His heart seemed to slow down as this sense of... It was hard to explain. It was the same feeling he got with Fiona. That needed to make sure they were ok. The desire to protect... to calm... Roman's eyes narrowed as he pressed a hand to his chest in confusion. He had a very bad feeling something was wrong and it made his chest tighten. He didn't like it. There weren't many who incited this kind of feeling in him. In fact, there really was only them two. He wanted it to stop. He wanted the bad feeling to go away. "Thank you again, Roman. Really... this isn't goodbye... I remember our deal. When I die, you get my body."

"You do realize that was our deal exactly. I get your body. You never specified for what purpose. I could literally do anything to you." Ash just shrugged as Roman's eyes only darkened more. "Do you not care?"

"No. No, I do not. Goodbye... for now at least. I will see you again soon, Your highness."

"WAIT!" Roman crashed a the words finally dawned one him a few minutes later. 'See you again soon'. That was what he had said. Roman felt this jolt, this need to do something. Something was wrong. Something bad was going to happen and for some reason he wanted to stop it. He found himself standing there in the shadows having teleported to where he knew Ash would be thanks to the connection from their deal. Roman wasn't sure what it was but... something broke in him at the sight.

Ash stood there hands in his pockets, eyes trained to the gravel, as these adults... no doubt his parents... screamed at him about sins and god. Roman twitched, his eyes glowing in the black. They were screaming about a man that didn't exist... screaming about rule... Did they even READ the so-called nonsense that was the bible? Roman really didn't care about religion. You can believe whatever you wanted to. He wasn't about to condemn you for it. If you wanted to put your faith in a book and worship this 'god' then fine. But what he absolutely couldn't stand was the pure and utter nonsense of complete and total devotion to a toxic level over a line that was poorly translated. The line more closely translated said 'A man shalt not lay with a boy as he does with his wife'. Yet here they were spouting their damned beliefs about homosexuality. Roman truthfully did not understand. Gender should not matter. Gender wasn't even a thing until the human's created the terms to understand their and other creature's reproductive jobs. It was all total bullshit.
