Chapter Two

After we were done in the bar, that night, we all walked out of the building and towards the compound.

I was walking behind Marcel and in front of Thierry, who jogged up beside me. "So if you knew Marcel back then, how old are you? If you don't mind telling me." He asked, taking a drink from the bottle of Bourbon that he had swiped from the bar when the bartender wasn't looking.

"914." I replied, not thinking anything of it.

Of course, I must have shocked the poor guy, because he spit out the Bourbon and choked on it for a second while I patted his back to help him breathe a bit.

"Y-You're 900 years old?!" He wheezed, astonished. Diego stared at me from beside Marcel, his eyes wide.

I giggled at their reaction. "Yeah, last time I checked."

"Oh, trust me. That's not the only cool thing about her." Marcel smirked, turning his head to look at me with a wink.

"Jesus, what else is there?!" Thierry asked, laughing.

"She's one of the two original hybrids in the world for one thing." Marce stated.

"Hybrid? Are you like that Klaus guy? Half wolf?" Diego asked, scrunching his nose up in disgust. I could tell that he had a deep hatred for them. The Originals or wolves, I wasn't quite sure.

"No. I was a witch when Klaus turned me to save my life. I was the first witch ever turned using an Original's blood." I said, smiling softly as I reminisced. "I guess that had some perks to it, because when I woke up, I still had my powers. And I was three times as strong as I was before."

Diego raised an eyebrow, then glanced at Marcel. Thierry seemed slightly nervous.

I raised a brow at them. Something was wrong, and they weren't telling me what it was.

No one spoke again. Not even when we got to the compound.

I sped in front of them all, standing with my hip jutted out and my arms crossed as we came to the front gates. "Okay. What's wrong?"

Marcel, for once, looked nervous. Thierry just looked at the ground.

"We don't get along." Diego said from the back, moving forwards to stand beside Marcel and Thierry. "We had a thing with the witches a couple weeks back."

I raised a brow. "And what was this thing?"

"The harvest." Marcel muttered. "Sophie Devereaux was worried that it wasn't real, and they were killing four teenage girls for no reason." He said, sighing. "We could only save one of them."

I sighed. "The harvest is very real. I definitely don't agree with it, and I certainly don't like that they lie about how they're going to kill them, but it's real."

Marcel nodded. "We had rules against hurting or killing kids. They were only fifteen, so they were kids to us. And we thought that they were dying for no reason."

"There was a reason alright. The elders down here are afraid of losing their powers, so they kill people to bring the power back into the earth. The witch doctors do the same thing down in Africa. It's just as barbaric, and these witches are too insane to realize it."
