The song for this chapter is "My Blood" by Ellie Goulding. I think that it represents how Roseia is better with Elijah than she is without him. Even if she is harmed by being around him or the Mikaelsons, being with Elijah will heal her and make her stronger than she was before.

I loooooooooove this song so much. <3

I hope you guys like this chapter. I know that you will, though. ;)

Chapter Seventy-Two

We were just outside of New Orleans when he decided to finally talk about what had happened all those weeks ago.

"Roseia, I think you need to know the aftermath of what happened that night," he said.

"I don't want to know," I told him, shaking my head.

He sighed, and pulled off on an exit on the highway. He went into the parking lot of a grocery store, and parked the car, then turned with all of his attention on me.

"You need to understand what has happened to Hope... What we had to do."

I swallowed, and slowly turned to look at him, biting my lip. I hadn't asked what had happened to the baby because I was too scared to know. Plus, Enzo had told me that she died, so I just left it at that. I didn't want to pour salt in old wounds.

"She is alive," he said.

We were in silence for a second, because I was trying to process what he had just said. "She is?" I whispered, my eyes widening. "B-But someone told me she was dead..."

"To the rest of the world, other than our family, she is," he told me. "We knew that the witches would not stop, and Francesca's family is going to try and take over the Quarter again."

"I'll give the witches a reason to stop," I growled. "I stopped them once before, I can do it again."

"Roseia, you and I both know that doing that will only hurt you more," he said, shaking his head at me.

I pursed my lips, then asked him, "So if you've convinced them all that she is dead, then where is she? Surely you didn't keep her in the Quarter?"

He shook his head. "No, she is safe. Rebekah is the only one who knows of her whereabouts."

"Nik trusted her," I smiled softly. "I guess that he has moved on from what happened."

He nodded. "Yes, he also proved this when he saved Marcel."

"Why?"

"Marcel told us that after you... helped Hope," he tried to move around the subject carefully, but I still cringed a little. "A witch showed up and was going to finish the job, but Marcel killed him before he could. Then he took the child to safety in the abattoir."

"So I guess that they're finally going to be friends again," I said.

"More similar to allies, I imagine," Elijah muttered. "It will take years of mending to repair the damage that Marcel has done to Niklaus' already dwindling capacity to trust those around him."

I nodded slowly. "And Hayley... She became a hybrid, didn't she?"

His eyes widened slightly. "You knew?"

I nodded again. "I suspected, yes. If she died when she was still pregnant, then there was a very big chance that she would be alright. I just didn't know if it would work if she died after she had the baby, which was why I just allowed myself to think that she was dead."
