Chapter Seventy-Three

"Once upon a time, there was a majestic king, who lived with his noble brother in a kingdom where music and art were celebrated. The king did not foresee having a child, but he lived in an enchanted land where all things were possible. In time, he was blessed with a beautiful baby daughter, for whom he wished only peace. Still, the king had demons who pursued him. There was a ruthless beast who wanted to take the kingdom for her own. Armed with a pack of untamed creatures, she drove the other magical creatures from the land. And, there was a wicked sorceress with enchanted stones that weakened the king every full moon. Seeing the shadow his enemies cast upon his home, the king was driven to send his beloved princess away, convincing all who remained that she was forever lost. The king, in his sorrow, turned away from the world. The castle closed its doors, and the kingdom fell. Some say that the only light that shines in the castle illuminates the shadow of the once majestic king in the room meant for his child. But, as the ruthless beasts took rule over the fallen king's realm, little did they know that he and his brother would not rest until their enemies were vanquished. For, they believed that one day, they would heal their kingdom and bring their precious princess home, so that she might live happily ever after."

Klaus and Hayley were not improving. In fact, their mood was deteriorating.

Klaus was taking out his anger on his paintings, which were all dark. AT least, the ones that he wanted to paint. Hayley was worse. She was losing her humanity, and that was the absolute last thing that I wanted for her.

The only thing that we could do was wait and search. We waited for the wolves that had the twelve rings to show themselves, and when they did, that was when we would destroy every single person who had hurt us that night.

It had been months. In truth, with everything that had happened, it felt like years.

The wolves had left their home. They had moved to different areas of the bayou, and none of us were aware of their location. All we knew was that they had been scared away by the bombs, and the 'gang violence' as Francesca Gurerra had called it.

It was Cami who told us that Francesca was a Gurerra. And, unfortunately, it seemed that the wolves who stayed in the Quarter were taking orders from her. It also seemed like the witches were under her control as well.

Davina had been kicked out of the coven, which really didn't matter to anyone except me. I still spent time with her, but she was hiding lately. Like she had a secret that she was refusing to tell me. It annoyed the hell out of me.

The wolves were keeping away the vampires, and killing any that were in the Quarter. It wasn't like they had much trouble, considering how all of them were dead, including Diego.

I had been affected greatly when I found out about Diego's death. I didn't want to be with him anymore, but I didn't want him to die.

The witches were horrid. It had turned out that the people, or rather, person, who wanted the child to die, was Esther. They were working through her.

I had tried to move on from the fact that I had turned off my humanity when I could have used the last few hours that the other side still existed to save Kol. However, Klaus and Elijah were still trying to help me. They wanted me to realize that I had done the right thing, and the witches deserved death. They deserved to be torn apart for their actions. It still didn't help me.
