Chapter Fourteen

The bar was filled with laughter and chatter, mostly from my three closest friends on the other side of the room. Marcel had just finished singing right as I walked in.

The three of them all saw me the second I walked in, and I quickly highfived Marcel before he pulled me into a hug.

"We thought you'd never show," he chuckled.

I rolled my eyes, smiling. "Whatever."

I hopped onto one of the barstools, with Thierry on my right and Diego on my left.

"Oh, no you don't," Diego smirked, and a second later, I was on his lap. "I missed you." He mumbled, resting his head on my shoulder.

I sighed. "I missed you too. Sorry I was gone, I had to get a few things from Katy's shop."

He nodded, not asking what I needed. I turned around, putting my legs over his thighs. He put his right arm around my waist, as if he was making sure that the other guys in the bar knew I was his. He didn't seem like it, but in truth, he was actually very possessive. He liked it when people knew what belonged to him.

It had been two months since the ordeal with the witches, and nearly three months since I set foot in New Orleans for the second time.

Marcel had complete control over the quarter, even the majority of the humans were loyal when they found out that one of their own was hexed by the witches. They thought that Marcel did the right thing, but at the same time, they wanted Agnes dead. We didn't. At least, not yet.

Diego and I were... Well, I'm not entirely sure how to put it. It was more than friends, but I dislike the words "girlfriend" and "boyfriend". It sounds strange to me. Anyway, Diego and I had a relationship that was far from just friends, and he made sure that every male in the city knew it.

We stayed in the bar for an hour, and by then, the crowd was begging Marcel to sing again.

He jumped up onto the stage, and started to sing the same song he was always performing the day I returned. It brought back memories. "How You Like Me Now" by The Heavy, the song he was singing, was definitely one of my favourites.

The three of us had been clapping along to the song as it neared it's end, when I suddenly felt slightly dizzy. I told Diego I was going to be right back, and then quickly left.

I went into the bathroom, throwing water on my face. I felt better almost instantly, then figured out why I felt like that. This happened sometimes.

I was like Davina. I could sense the power of people, tell what species they were. And right now, something strong was in the bar.

It was strange. I hadn't felt like this since the night that a certain hybrid had finally awoken the werewolf side of himself.

It couldn't be... Right? It's not possible for him to be in the exact same place as me, when he knows that there are thousands, if not millions of places I could be. Unless he wasn't here for me... Oh, god. What the hell did he do now?

Wait... I don't even know if he's here.

Well, I guess I'd better go check.

The very second that I walked out of the bathroom, there he was. Hugging Marcel like a father would with his son. I grinned, but didn't move from beside the bar.
