Okies. Well. Also. HAPPY CANADIAN THANKSGIVING. I mean, technically Canada's thanksgiving is tomorrow, but still. I'm celebrating it today just because my mom decided to. Yeah. She's just like that.

By the way, you guys seemed to think that Rose and Elijah were gonna kiss this chapter... Nuh uh. That was HAYLIJAH's story. Not mine. I have their relationship completely planned already. It's gonna happen soon, though. Just a few chapters from now. :) Don't worry.

I just really wanted a build up. Something big is gonna happen, and the two of them will need each other. So yeah. ^_^ I'm sure you can guess what'll happen afterwards.

The song for this chapter is "Locked Away" by R. City and Adam Levine. I listened to it while writing this. I hope you like it! ^_^

Chapter Sixty-Four

I helped Hayley get up the stairs. She was still a little weak, and frankly, so was I. But we made it with no trouble at all.

I helped her clean the blood off of her face, deciding not to tell her that it was actually a combination of hers and Klaus' blood. She didn't need those gory details, she's already under enough stress.

She took my suggestion and had a long and hot shower, and I handed her some clean clothes through the cracked doorway when she asked for them.

I laid stretched out on her bed, reading a magazine that happened to have reviews for the newest movies.

When Hayley came out of the bathroom, drying her hair out with a towel, I mentioned it to her.

"Hey, maybe after all this stuff with the stones is done, we can go see a movie or something."

She scoffed. "You mean, have a fun day amidst all the crazy? I highly doubt that the homicidal hybrid downstairs will let us."

I rolled my eyes. "Oh, please. For the first few years I knew him, that guy acted like an overprotective father. You can't even count the number of things I've done without his permission."

"You're a sneaky little witch, aren't ya?"

"Hybrid, and yes. Yes I am."

She sighed and sat down on the bed with her legs crossed, and I went up into a sitting position.

"So, you never answered my question," Hayley said.

"What question?"

"The question where I asked you if you loved Elijah."

I gulped. "Oh... That one."

She nodded, a smile lingering on her lips. "Yeah. That one."

I sighed. "Well, I just..." I didn't really know how to answer. "To be honest, I don't know where to start."

"The beginning is always a nice spot," she smiled softly.

I licked my lips, then nodded.

"The first time I met him... I was fifteen. I was but a child compared to him, to any of them. I hadn't seen the world like they had. When I saw them all, I felt this instant... Admiration. But mostly for Elijah. He was so noble, so kind, but if anyone hurt someone he cared about, he would kill them in a second. And as I grew up, I found myself caring about him even more. He was amazing. He still is..." I trailed off. Every word that I had said was true.
