Chapter One Hundred & Twelve

"You must know that this is for your safety, Roseia," Elijah said once Rebekah and Freya had left the room.

I didn't look at him. I turned my back on him as he walked through the opposite side of the study. I went over to one of the tables that had an array of liquor and glasses on it, while he took a book from the bookcase. He looked at it and seemed somewhat absent-minded while he continued to speak.

"And for Hope's safety as well."

"And what about Klaus'?"

He froze, then sighed and put the book back in it's previous spot. "Niklaus was going to ruin this family, you know that. We need to take care of Dahlia, then we will allow him to wake. Perhaps then he will finally pay for his actions."

"He didn't kill Aiden!" I snapped.

"How do you know that, Rose?" he asked, his voice rising ever so slightly. Even so, he was much more calm than I was. "Freya is right, Niklaus is impulsive and manipulative. He only cares about himself and his own feelings, not anyone else's. Yes, he may have killed Aiden and regretted it, but he still killed him."

"Why must you all think the worst of him?"

"Because he is a monster," he stated, clenching his jaw. He wasn't calm anymore. "He would harm you, his sister, even myself in order to get what he wants!"

"We are all monsters, Elijah! Especially you and I!" I shouted at him, and his angered expression faded. "What about us? When will we pay for our actions?"

He stayed quiet, and I swallowed before talking again.

"When will you and I pay the price? When will I pay for the 26 witches I murdered when I turned off my humanity?" I asked him.

He immediately shook his head. "Roseia, you know that's different-"

"Is it, though?! Is it really? I killed people for hurting those that I loved, he is a killer because he wants to protect those that he loves!" I said, and his eyes widened a little at my sudden outburst. "When will I pay?"

He stayed quiet, and I took a long drink from one of the bottles of bourbon. I didn't even bother to pour it into a glass. When I was done, thoughts of Dahlia taking Hope away suddenly flashed through my mind. I let out a low growl, and gripped the neck of the bottle a little harder than I should have. It shattered in my hand, and the wider part of the bottle dropped to the floor and broke in the same fashion that the neck had. I felt my hand bleeding from the glass that had pierced my skin, and saw Elijah jump a little when he saw what had happened.

"Rose, I-" he said, walking forwards and seeming conflicted. I knew that he could enter the boundary, but I couldn't leave. He didn't know if he wanted to be near me right now, he was right to be cautious.

"Don't," I stated. "Just..."

I ran my other clean hand through my hair in frustration, pulling at the roots and letting out a groan.

"Elijah, you have to let me out. I need to help. I can't just stand by and wait until Dahila comes for us. I can't."

He still didn't say anything.

"What will I do if something happens? What if the spell doesn't break? What if I'm stuck in here while she kills all of you?" My voice rose the further on I went. "I can't just stand by and do nothing, Elijah!"

He looked hesitant. He glanced down at the book he was holding, seeming anxious, but continued to stay silent. I hadn't convinced him, but he was thinking it over.

"I won't take out the dagger," I said, and he finally looked up at me. "I just want to protect Hope."

He slowly shook his head, then put the book back on the shelf. "Dahlia could kill you, Rose. I refuse to let that happen. If Niklaus is afraid of her, she has the ability to ruin us all."

"I can't die."

"We don't know that for sure," he stated, walking to the door. "This is for the best, Roseia."

He walked out of the room, and I strode over to the barrier. "Elijah," I called out, hearing his footsteps move down the hallway. "Elijah!" I hit my fists against the shield, but of course, nothing worked.

Dahlia really would ruin us all.

*

It was a long time before anyone came back to my little prison cell. Freya brought some blood bags, but we didn't say a word to each other. Maybe Klaus was right to distrust her. I was seeing that now.

I listened in on their conversations once in awhile, and I heard Elijah attack Freya. It turns out, they were going to use Freya as bait to lure Dahlia out. Elijah had infected Freya with Hope's blood, and now, her power source was inside of Freya. Dahlia would never know the difference, as long as Rebekah was able to keep control of the magic.

It seemed that, at this point, I had lost all concept of time. I knew that it was almost night time, since the sun was setting and the sky outside the window was turning a light pink, but I didn't know how many days had passed. I couldn't keep count, I was too caught up in thinking about Hope and Dahlia. Something was wrong. Something terrible was about to happen, I could feel it. Not just that, I could sense it. A large amount of magic was being used in the quarter. She was here, and she was getting ready for something.

No one came back for hours, and I soon figured out why. They were too busy dealing with a missing Klaus.

They should have listened to me. I told them that he would wake up, I knew that he would do it on his own. We didn't even need to touch him.

Elijah came into the room, rubbing his hands together anxiously. "Dahlia is coming, and Freya believes she is the one who released Niklaus."

I didn't say anything, just continued to stare out the window.

"Roseia, please just look at me," he said, his voice filled with desperation and pain.

"Let me out, then maybe I'll forgive you. Maybe."

"I cannot do that, Roseia," he said. "Dahlia will kill us all. You know that."

"And she will have a hell of a lot harder time if she fights me as well!" I shouted at him, turning to face him with my hand curled into fists.

"Dahlia cannot know you're here," he said, shaking his head. "She will take out the strongest player, and right now, you are it. As long as you stay in that circle, she won't know you are here. Freya made it so that she will not be able to sense you while you are behind the barrier."

"Then let me out when she comes! I'll catch her by surprise!"

"No," he said plainly, shaking his head. "I will allow you to leave when all of this is over."

"Fine," I growled. "Just make sure you don't get Hope killed in the middle of all this."

Elijah clenched his jaw a little, then left the room, leaving me to my angered thoughts.
